The upcoming flagship chipset was introduced at Samsung System LSI Tech Day in San Jose, California. Samsung Semiconductor held its System LSI Tech Day…
I’m only interested on its real world perf and the heating issues that this might come with
Thank you for your personal tastes very interesting!
Exynos used to be one of the best SoCs, but it hasn’t been for like a decade already. So not going to believe this will be anywhere near the best until tests show otherwise. xD
I know they have a household appliances division, but as far as hand warmers are concerned, theirs are the best.
Didn’t they only just announce like last year that they’d signed a deal to use snapdragon SoCs for the next 5 years or so for flagships worldwide while they start work on their revamp of Exynos? To only go 1 year of snapdragon would be odd.
Hopefully this new exynos is great, as snapdragon being the only good option is not good for the industry.
The division that makes Samsung phones is IT & Mobile Communications. System LSI Business, Device Solutions is another division that makes the Exynos Chip. Both division’s have their own CEO’s and make best decisions independently for their organization. Which may or may not benefit the other subsidiary. For e.g Samsung in their laptops use SSD from other manufactures instead of their own SSD.
Unfortunately, it looks like only the Ultra from the S24 series will use Snapdragon: https://www.gsmarena.com/samsungs_galaxy_s24_ultra_will_use_a_snapdragon_8_gen_3_exclusively-news-60137.php
So, while true that the flagship will use it, this also leaves a lot of other models on the table for Exynos.
Apple has already started widening the gap between the iPhone and iPhone Pro, to the point where you can’t consider the iPhone a true flagship anymore. Samsung is doing the same. The age of the $600-800 flagship is nearly over. Now it’s $1000+

Why are Exynos chips so bad?! 😭
Pretty much all Android drivers are for snapdragon. Not just using a snapdragon is pretty much asking for a bad time.
With all the pull that Samsung has, they seriously couldn’t get Android drivers for Exynos?
I mean they do have Android drivers for Exynos now, but if normal devs are still working around snapdragon the effects will still be felt. For all the pull Samsung has, Snapdragon has a much bigger market share.
If Exynos continues to be as terrible as it is, I can’t complain.
