Can someone please explain to me the wine versions and such? They always get posted here, but they’re very confusing. Like what’s the difference between this one another one that got posted around the same time with a lower version number?

GE 17 was released 3 weeks ago and 18 was released today. Just a new release aka update.
So then why was that post made today of it was released 3 weeks ago?
I believe you’re thinking of WINE GE which is different than PROTON GE. They are different versions. Proton GE is used be used with steam and Wine GE should be used with lutris and heroic etc.
Okay. That makes sense. So what is Wine-GE-Proton, which is what it says in this post.
It’s Wine GE but very confusingly named. You’d have to ask Glorious Eggroll why he changed the naming scheme. It used to be simpler.
If you read the description you’ll see that the 2nd one is a hot fix and got a new version number. They were posted 16 hours apart.
