The best way I have found to feed the federator and find new communities is to use https://browse.feddit.de. You can find communities on there and then sub to them from this account.

For example if you want to find the lemmy.ml/c/memes community and have it pop up here, you would search for it using this string !memes@lemmy.ml (note the “!” at the beginning). It will take up to 15 seconds for the search to register the community. But after that you can sub and it will feed our federator. That is all. Thanks!
