The user @ThirdWorldOrder@lemm.ee was posting horrible takes over at this thread here: https://hexbear.net/post/693254?scrollToComments=false

Many of their comments have since been removed. I cant speak to all their comments, but there were a few which i’m surprised to see removed, regardless of the brainworms

A few people had posted decent posts in response. The person themselves may never change or may just be trolling, but there could be lib lurkers who read these threads who get swayed by some of the stuff we say in our exchanges. That’s why Hexbear is so good – people often have quality in depth posts.

But what is the point of federating if we cant actually engage with the federation?

Dont get me wrong, sometime you need to remove the comments and ban the users, I’m not aruging for freeze-peach I’m saying that in that thread, in this specific case, I enjoyed reading fellow hexbear and lemmygrad responses. If I did, then others probably did too.

For example, @Awoo@hexbear.net posted this: https://ecfr.eu/publication/the-art-of-vassalisation-how-russias-war-on-ukraine-has-transformed-transatlantic-relations/

Which is a good thing to share and something I wouldn’t have seen if we get to be too quick to shut down bad takes. We would of course take the argument further than the authors of this paper but its a lib-friendly source talking about vassalisation. That could potentially be one of a thousand things that starts to open the eyes for a few people.
