I’m curious as to why Lemmy rarely shows up in search results on the main internet even if there is a post related to the search input. I’ve only ever seen a Lemmy result if Lemmy is specified. Is this because we’re still relatively small or some other reason?
I’m no expert on how engine sorting works, but doesn’t a site’s popularity factor into whether it shows up in top results? No matter how popular the post, the visits are going to be split between what are technically hundreds of different websites. If any one domain were likely to show up in a search, it’d be .world, but it’d still require a lot of interaction, specifically from .world users.
