- Yes, I know this is extremely stupid and impractical. I did this for fun.
- This was achieved using QEMU/KVM and virt-manager. I first created the VM using virt-Manager, then made a bash script to start the VM, added the script to my sudoers list (Probably a security risk, but fuck it we ball), then made a steam shortcut to virt-viewer which also started the VM. Yes, this is on the advanced side for 99% of people and I 10000% recommend you never try this. I did it for fun, and nothing else.
- Unfortunately I cannot hide the header bar at the top, I think this is a property of gamescope. On desktop mode I can go fullscreen perfectly fine.
- Sorry for bad quality, I recorded it using steam link.
- This was not running on Deck hardware, however it can be done on Deck hardware, and I plan to do so on mine whenever I can get one.

Impractical or not, I love the idea! Actually just installed Bazzite earlier today myself, pretty nifty all around.
I like the idea too, came to me when I was setting up VM’s in class. I think it’s a cool idea, I’m going to keep experimenting with the possibilities.
You’re crazy. I love this!
Sorry for interrupting, but is this a video post? I see only an image with a play button in the centre.
It should be a link to an Imgur video, maybe try looking on web?
Can I ask why you’d want to run a VM on a Steam Deck? Is it possible to run games inside the VM?
Gaming on the VM’s isn’t really feasible. I just did this for fun.
