Really like they’re doing destiny style seasons with story content. Bit annoying I have to restart for each season however.
Feels like they needed to separate the live service seasons and the traditional “ladder” seasons in this game or I can see a lot of folk dropping off longer term.
Yeah, if they add even just somewhat decent story content they’ll get me to spend money on the seasons too. Don’t quite remember what put me off from trying D3, but D4 got a lot of praise for its story and atmosphere so I decided to give it a try, even if it was relativly pricy. And despite occasional server hiccups I haven’t regretted that decision
It doesn’t really make sense, but going to nightmare dungeons to grind so “numbers go up” doesn’t really motivate me as much as a little blue exclamation mark and a nice voice over telling me to go to place X and kill monsters Y
I can see why forced restarts put some people off, but for me I guess it’l be a good thing. I’d be tempted to continue my current char otherwise, but a fresh start will mix things up and force me to try a different play style, thus keep things interresting for longer
I have no problem restarting a new character for a season. It gives a great reason to try new classes or builds that utilize the new season mechanics.
What I would want to know is what happens to the season’s “gimmick” or “mechanic” once it’s over? Like, season 1 introduces new gems and new dungeons to farm them. Fun! But is that only for the 3 months Season 1 is out and then never again?
They said some may make it into the eternal realm and some may show up in future seasons as regular additions. They don’t want to state for sure as they want to see how each seasons mechanics are viewed by the players before making such decisions.
They also won’t want all of them in the eternal realm because they feel like it would just make it a complete mess many season down the line.
So basically a wait and see and case by case basis. Which makes sense in my opinion.

Having to restart each season is entirely expected since it was the same way with D3 seasons.
New story content that drive each new season sounds awesome! Looking forward to seeing how it goes.
I already like not having to grind for gear.
