Good, keep building not rail and watching ferry terminals and ropes on our waterways. We need more alternatives to cars and highways.
It says in the project’s booklet that there are about 50,000 vehicles a day on this stretch of Highway 99 north of Sacramento.
That roadway is what this rail project is running parallel to.
The same booklet says that much of this traffic is commuter traffic to Sacramento,.
That, and commuters to Chico State are what this project is apparently targeting to serve.
Is that commuting pattern still holding true in this new era of remote work, I wonder?
…and this only tangentially has anything to do with the SF Bay Area…
According to the schedule in the pamphlet, it will take 5h 45mins for a passenger from Chico to reach Oakland, switching trains in Stockton…
