Update: The Prince George’s County Council decided at a committee vote on Friday, June 17, 2023, not to bring the proposed townhouse ban to a full Council vote on the original timetable. The bill’s sponsors said they plan to revise the bill and bring it back to the Council in the fall. Prince George’s County could ban new townhouses in most of the county for the next two years. County Executive Angela Alsobrooks described it as “a step backwards on how other jurisdictions across the nation are dealing with the issue of housing.”
