I’m using the above software by Sphinx Software, it’s an active firewall noticing me on every event. It’s ok but it’s lagging my OS. Do you have any alternative you could suggest? Maybe an open-source one? (the WFC10 is a paid one btw)

I ended up switching to Ubuntu, as I found networking with UFW (universal firewall) a lot easier to control, then I run Windows in a VM as needed.
