This guy has a long history of doing things to completion. Ran the perimeter of USA, ran from LA to NYC after 9/11. Big cycling stuff. He is an actual world class athlete. I think he really wants to do this but lacks the finances and connections to have the support needed for such an expedition.

Threads still hasn’t implemented ActivityPub
I’m on kbin.social and when I go to /d/threads.net it is very active. I would not be able to go there if they haven’t implemented activitypub and federated.
The WhatsApp creator left Facebook early, leaving $850 million behind, because he thought they were pure evil, and then he went to the signal creators and threw money at them to not sell or turn into a shit show. He is now the interim CEO of signal. He plans to keep it as a private foundation that is using a donation model to keep it going.
Also, if you work for an employer that asks you to download signal for work communication, make sure you record all conversations by screenshots or screen video. People can wipe signal communications remotely and this can give employers deniability while putting things on the employee. Practice CYA at all times.
Do not try to reason/argue with people who did not reason themselves into their view point. The most successful way to get peoples views to change is having a conversation that they lead and your gently steer.

What, you expected something different than the usual human reactionary model in place? No, no. You will get this stuff when it starts affecting people in a much larger population. When over 50% of the population is inconvenienced at the same time by the same events repeatedly, it will cause a reactionary change that will be equally bad in the opposite direction.

And when looking at the largest cause of death in cars they still go through 19 when doing comparisons like this, the data for the Journal of Pediatric medicine. And comparing the two groups, this is very true in 1-19 guns surpassed car deaths. But that doesn’t hold for each age in the group. Gun deaths in 1 year olds are exceedingly rare. You can parse it however you want but up through 19 as a whole has guns winning. Homicide by gun was up 66% in 0-4 group is just crazy. That is a group you do not expect to die by guns.
