  • yes, true, but not exactly why i used the phrasing “wrong AND incomplete”:

i wrote it that way, because without clarifying that “destruction” means many different things apart form the common interpretation of “to kill”, it’s difficult for a casual reader to know what the convention actually says.

if anyone wants to shorten the definition to fit into a dictionary, they should be more responsible in their phrasing, so that this exact problem is less likely to occur.

so i do fault merriam webster here for providing an incomplete, oversimplified definition.

  • eh, I don’t think that’s gonna make much of a difference:

most of the cost is probably lost revenue from the stopped flow, not the pump itself!

that said you’re almost at the ideal target already!

it’s best to sabotage the nexus point nearest the pipeline source: that way you knock out the largest part of the network resulting in the most damage by disabling most of the network!

tl;dr: knock out infrastructure as close to the source as possible, that isn’t actually the source!

(because sabotaging the source is a really, really bad idea, see: every oil spill ever)

(and for fucks sake, don’t do any of this in winter…people might freeze, if there’s no time to come up with alternative energy sources…which is why late spring is the best time to blow up a pipeline! :D )

  • Astrology and homeopathy doesn’t even begin to fucking compare with nazism

sooooo…ummmm…here’s the craziest thing; hold on, you’re not gonna believe this:

the nazis were SUPER into astrology, homeopathy, and similar shit!

nazi occultism is essential to nazi ideology, so not only are these concepts intimately intertwined, they form one of the pillars on which nazi iedology is built: “alternate science”

“alterantive science”, “aryan science”, or whatever else it’s called (it doesn’t actually matter, all of it is the exact same shit: NOT science), is an important part of fascist power structures in that it serves as a vehicle to legitimize the crazy racist and supremacist shit they want to believe.

phrenology, homeopathy, eugenics, and all the rest of the dogmatic bullshit played a major role in the 3rd reich by delegitimize the “jewish science”.

    sound familiar? it should!

the modern equivalent is “woke science”, which, you know, is just regular science…

so, no, nazi ideology doesn’t “compare” to astrology and homeopathy: those are essential parts of nazism and the associated anti-intellectualism!

(ExtraHistory has a recent video series on the topic of nazi occultism; it’s on youtube and nebula, if you’re interested to learn more!)

Also, why do you call out astrology but not christianity?

not sure how it would play out nowadays, especially in the U.S., but in the 3rd reich the church was a significant source of resistance against nazi rule.

the reasons for that include the church having a vested interest in keeping some control over the population and it’s own propaganda, but the vast majority of resistance came from individual clergy members refusing to bow to the cruelty of the nazis, and defending their communities.

these priests resisted both directly and indirectly, rallied rebels, organized smuggling operations, provided meeting places, sheltered refugees, sabotaged, and generally made the jobs of the nazi oppressors that much harder.

many, MANY clergy members were murdered by the nazis for their resistance, and quite a few officially received martyrdom status, and a few are regarded as national heroes for their efforts!

so i’m an atheist, vehemently against the church and think that:

    • it’s an institution of power and control over the poorly educated to keep them nice and distracted from the class struggle
    • think the tax exempt status of churches, with little to no oversight on how that tax-free income is spent, is bullshit
    • the priesthood serves as a shield for masses of sexual predators
    • the indoctrination of young and vulnerable minds that haven’t had a chance to develop countermeasures to such influence is morally abhorrent
    • the church has, and in some cases continues to, committed heinous crimes against humanity

…but you chose the one period in history that actually makes it kinda clear what benefits the church does provide.

like i said, i’m not a fan, and if it wasn’t the church i’m fairly confident others would have stepped up and taken on similar roles of resistance, as many indeed did at the time, and yet this is one of the few instances in which the members of the clergy were quite clearly on the right side of history for once…possibly the only time.

sooooo…yeah…unlucky example in this (very specific) context…

there’s a lot fascinating history around these two topics, highly recommend checking it out! ;)

  • fyi, in case someone isn’t clear on the difference:

    stakeholder ≠ shareholder

stakeholders are basically all people involved, including staff, and even stuff like landlords, janitors, citizens (sometimes things like parents), etc.

it’s anyone with a stake in an organizations operations!

example: a city decides to create a new bus route. in this case, stakeholders include the local residents, the companies involved in creating the route, the companies supplying the buses, the mechanics needed to keep the fleet running, etc., etc.

there’s a usually a LOT of stakeholders, and typically you don’t always include everyone in every little decision because it quickly becomes unmanageable. so only the most relevant ones are included in most decisions, and who exactly that is depends on the project.

shareholders on the other hand are what everyone is probably thinking of, and that’s the people (“people” being used generously here) only interested in next quarters profits. you know! the parasites!

of course the message is still bullshit and nothing but coded corpo-speech for “shareholders”, but i thought some folks might be interested in knowing the difference anyhow.

even if, in this case, it’s only important to highlight the extra special bullshit they put into the statement…

  • so for something completely different and focusing solely on the “size” aspect:

the biggest, that i am aware of, game in terms of sheer SIZE involved, is Stellaris:

it’s a paradox grand strategy game, not first person at all, so completely different from the other recommendations and probably nothing to do with what you asked for…but if you want something truly MASSIVE…well…can’t go much larger than galaxy spanning all out war involving gigantic fleets and armies!

so if power fantasies is something you’re interested in, maybe take a look! it’s pretty easy to get into, but has a lot of depth (but no requirement) to master later on! and it has a lot of settings regarding game speed and difficulty to tailor it to your tastes.

and mods, god help me, the mods; play a couple hours to get to know the game, then definitely get Gigastructural Engineering from the workshop. short list of ridiculous engineering:

    • Attack Moons
    • Behemoth Planetcraft
    • Neutronstar Gigaforge
    • Matryoshka Brain
    • and a bunch, even more ridiculously huge projects!

(sidenote: the new DLC subscription on steam is…kinda worth it honestly. not the worst idea, especially to just try it out for a couple hours. i was extremely skeptical, but it’s kinda, surprisingly, less predatory than the previous “we’ll release 2 20$ DLCs, and 1 30/40$ DLC per year” model…)

  • so you admit you have no idea, and then make a definitive statement to NOT get vaccinated.

you do see the hypocrisy here, right?

and “at least” means they do not know what happens after, presumably because data is not yet available.

given that they very clearly state that getting fresh-ups does help, the reasonable assumption is to get the vaccine just in case.

not the other way around, like you did.

you are spreading misinformation, if you say not to get the vaccine, just because you assume that it has downsides.

to use your own argument: IF fresh-ups had negative effects, they would say so in plain words.

they don’t do that, which shows nicely how dumb of an argument that is.

  • this is FALSE:

The point still stands: The STIKO does not recommend yearly fresh-ups for people who have base immunity. You still got a fresh-up. I didn’t. Thus, I followed their recommendations, you didn’t.

the guidelines say protections last at least 12 months, after which you should still get a fresh-up, even if you have base immunity:

Die Kombination aus Impfung und Infektion (hybride Immunität) verleiht einen guten Schutz vor schweren Krankheitsverläufen nach SARS-CoV-2-Infektionen, der auf Basis der bisher verfügbaren Untersuchungen mindestens 12 Monate anhält.

the recommendation literally says EVERYONE, and in this case specifically “Für Personen im Alter ≥ 18 Jahre und Schwangere ohne Grunderkrankung” (the very same paragraph, right at the beginning), has protections that last about 12 months.

this is INCLUDING “Basisimmunität”, which that same paragraph states lasts about 12 month.

they really shouldn’t use “Basisimmunität”, because it sounds like it lasts indefinitely, which is false; it lasts about 12 months, and then decreases in effectiveness.

this is apparently the part you can’t read properly: the base immunity is NOT permanent.

getting a fresh-up is the recommendation.

NOT getting a fresh-up is AGAINST the recommendation.

    You still got a fresh-up.

i can’t believe i have to state this again, but: I AM A DIFFERENT USER.

i never said anything about getting the fresh-up.

stop spreading anti-vax biullshit, just because you can’t read properly.

and especially don’t go around telling other people they can’t read, if you yourself are the one incapable of it.

    to quote YOU:

    learn to read.

  • that’s not what I’m responding to.

    here’s what you actually wrote:

If it was actually negligible then the STIKO would say “everyone should still get vaccinated”. But it isn’t, so they don’t.

which is a flat out lie.

they DO recommend everyone get at least one vaccine. and they still recommend that.

    AT LEAST ONE.

you wrote the exact opposite of what you’re claiming now and it’s straight up disinformation.

screw that bullshit cop out you buried in parentheses halfway down AFTER, and completely disconnected from, a closed statement that is entirely false.

you can’t post a false statement, then another false statement, and then add a caveat at the end that amounts to little more than “just kidding…unless?”.

the STIKO recommendation also is not either/or as you frame it.

    the actual recommendation is:

    • ALWAYS at least 1 vaccine, regardless of everything else.
    • at least 3 contacts with the pathogen in total, including any and all vaccines

that you falsely presented as no longer being the case. it is still the case.

on top of everything, you are the one who can’t read, since you haven’t even realized that I’m a different user entirely and not the one who made the side-eye comment.

    to quote another user:

    glasshouses --> you --> stones

  • yo, why are you fucking lying about the STIKO recommendations?

the link you yourself provided says to definitely get the vaccine, in no uncertain terms:

(i’m not gonna bother translating that into english; sorry about that, but it’s not worth the effort.)

the STIKO makes it ABUNDANTLY clear that you absolutely should get AT LEAST 1 vaccination for “Basisimmunität” (basic immunity).

take your outright lies elsewhere with your anti-vax bullshit.
