To be honest with myself, I am kind of the same. For the lemmy devs and lemmy.world, there are 1€ / month tiers on patreon. Its not that much but at the very least its more than nothing.

Buddy, this is a linux post not a windows one
Yeah, Codeberg’s UI is almost the same as github, its good tbh.
P.S. i came to the conclusion that codeberg/github UI is good, when i went to sourcehut. Holy crap, my mind couldnt comprehend what am i looking at. (Could be a skill issue tho)
For windows you dont need to buy it, you can activate it using microsofts own tools, its on github (dont remember its name right now.)
As for linux, i would recommend openSUSE Tumbleweed, it is fresh, and the best part about it is that whenever you update the system, it creates a snapshot, so if the update had some kind of undesired sideeffects, you can just startup the old version. (These snapshots only effect the system’s packages, your apps will keep their state iirc. My brother uses tumbleweed and he is very content with it.)
Yeah, if there is one thing that windows 11 does well is looks. I think its fancy.
My exact thoughts as well. Im like:
“Huhh wtf, this cant be true. Ahh it must be the Onion. Wait wat… This is not the onion…”
Even if you agree with something, you can play the ‘devils advocate’ and say what is wrong. You need to look at both sides.
I for example despise Apple. But i gotta admit their phones are pretty good if you just want a smartphone. Or if everything you have is apple, then the ecosystem is really nice.
Try to understand the other side, and be the opposing person. So these conversations can happen.
While I agree, but i tried Brave Search for a few weeks, and it seemed pretty good.
I wouldnt use Brave Browser, because Vivaldi is there (if you need Chromium.) But for a search engine which is free? DuckDuckGo maybe?
P.S. Kagi search is pretty good if you are willing to pay.
Holdup! I genuinely like this idea! On first startup it could ask for it, whether you would like to see this or not.
What they could do as well, is host their on git (forgejo is the name i think) and this donation built in. Basically what github is doing but without microsoft.
Shadows of doubt is a sandbox detective game. You are a detective and you have to solve crimes, which are totally randomized. What makes this interesting is that the world does not stop:
It is truly a sandbox! I havent played it too much yet, but i feel if i really start playing it, then i will skip going to bed!
I bought it discounted because i remember that i have seen it before. I really did not expect it to be this good. The world, the storyline and the combat are just awesome. Highly recommended!
It should be fine I think. On Linux you can have multiple Desktop Environments installed (ex KDE Plasma & Gnome as well.)
I tried Hyprland a few months ago like this. I had Plasma installed then installed hyprland as well. During login with SDDM you can select which DE to launch.
Edit: On github it says you should install it alone to make sure. I dont know then, maybe it works? I am still new to Linux as well.
Its not for everyone. Just like any other game.
One appeal of the souls-like games is having one difficulty only. It makes balancing much easier.
At the same time people can talk about the game, and actually be talking about the same game. With different difficulties games can change a lot.
Cyberpunk 2077 or The witcher 3 maybe? I think both of these open world games are absolutely fantastic.
Im using the Xiaomi Mi9t as well. Straight from MIUI to Android 14 custom ROM with Niagara Launcher. Its so awesome. I still love that there isnt any notch or hole on the screen.
Here is a great list: https://github.com/nyas1/Material-You-app-list
Then you could search it up on Droidify or use Obtainium.
I think categories/topics would be great as well. Maybe a collection for read later, tech, news etc. So i could sort them better.
But gotta admit, its a damn good launcher! If i had to use windows again, I would install it instead of the other two for sure!
Nice! We are looking into it with my boss and one other colleague. Im really hoping it goes through and I can finally use Linux at work!
And also, these sponsors should be at least somewhat relevant to you (ofc does not always mean it is.) ex. I watch The Linux Experiment channel, and he has Tuxedo Computers as a sponsor, who make hardware for Linux. Perfect match.
Other example is on mozilla’s developer platform (developer.mozilla.org), where the ads are not intrusive plus these are relevant for developers.
I just dont understand why cant we have these types of ads, instead of the tracking bullshit we have currently.
