I don’t see Federation giving any more resilience than Git itself. When a host deletes a repository, that’s reflected everywhere by Federation. Unless you propose disabling the ability to delete repositories entirely, hosts would be sued if they press the “delete but still federate” button when they can press the “delete” button.

Not necessarily. Even with “hide extensions” unchecked, Windows hides the .lnk extension by default; it just shows an arrow in the bottom-right corner of the icon, which is plausibly missed when in the list view. I’m surprised antivirus doesn’t know about it already tbh.

I was sort of thinking more about the effects: it’s a punishment that only causes kind of–petty discomfort. I’d agree that it’s not really public shaming, hence there’s not really any judicial public shaming in China anymore.
