Nice, that’s what I would expect! Lemmy has an endpoint that makes it easy to resolve links across instances. The OP implied Voyager didn’t do that.

Thunder tries to resolve the link to your local instance and opens it directly in the app.

get a VPS, run Tailscale and NPM on it and switch to Jellyfin

Keep in mind that VPSs will charge for bandwidth, which adds up quickly when you’re streaming.

One suggestion I haven’t seen mentioned is contacting your ISP. Sometimes you can get a dedicated IP, although you might have to pay for it.

Alternatively you might just break down and pay for Plex Pass. I know that goes against the Lemmy philosophy to the very core, but for all its issues, Plex is still way ahead of Jellyfin in terms of features, UI/UX, etc. Jellyfin will get there, and I’m ready to switch the day that Plex becomes unusable, but that hasn’t happened yet.

Thunder too! Instance/community/user blocks are a Lemmy feature, but keyword blocks are just a client side thing for now. Thunder blocks based on post titles, contents, and links.

Thunder has local notifications and is completely free.

Personally I don’t trust myself with self-hosting something as important as photos. It would probably be fine, but I’m willing to pay for someone else to manage the infrastructure.

Very happy Ente user here! It’s a great alternative to Google Photos and Immich (since I think photos are too important to self-host).

They have an easy guide for migrating from Google Photos (basically they can import a Takeout export directly).

I’ve got it installed on my phone with automatic backups enabled. It had no issues with duplicates from both Takeout and the existing photos on my phone. (I even did the upload twice due to running out of space the first time, and there were no dupes). The app has a pretty similar design to Google Photos, so it feels familiar. It also supports Google’s version of “live photos”.

You can create links to share albums or individual photos, and you can also add people to your plan.

I enabled the local machine learning analysis and, while it’s not perfect, it does make for a pretty nice searching experience.

Not yet. They’re supposedly “working on it”. This is the feature I’m most looking forward to.

It’s very optimistic to think people will be able to describe what they’re going to do before they do it. I find things rarely go exactly as planned and my commit messages usually include some nuance about my changes that I didn’t anticipate.

Wow I almost forgot the original name! I was skeptical it would catch on, as name changes are very hard, but fortunately it was very early on and I bet a lot of other people have forgotten as well.
