These types of details about the enslavement of a race not so many generations ago really paint a picture of the persecution of Black people in America. I had never heard of Sugar House or work houses in general. The treatment of trafficked black people is horrifying and to think how much retribution has happened in Germany after the holocaust compared how little has been done in the US is a disgrace.
