  • Had to look it up for curiosity’s sake.

In order to get fully set up, you will need to pay a $100.00 fee for each product you wish to distribute on Steam (the “Steam Direct Fee”)… This fee is not refundable, but will be recoupable in the payment made after your product has at least $1,000.00 Adjusted Gross Revenue for Steam Store and in-app purchases. Steamworks Partner Program

While not free, seems to be no overhead for the length of stay on Steam that I can see. Another site includes some more description which might add to the cost though

The cost to put a game on Steam depends on the type of game, the development budget [1], and the business model. To get a game onto Steam, developers need to pay a one-time registration fee of $100. After that, they will need to pay a 30% royalty fee. Additionally, developers may need to pay for marketing and other costs associated with the release of their game. source

Regardless, it’s just another unfortunate case of physical copies/backups>subscriptions or “licensing/rent” deals.

  • I’ve just recently ran into a new company advertising besides slot lights and it made the movie unwatchable. Slot lights will usually throw in 2-3 ad breaks which really annoy me because the audio levels are always pumped way up and it breaks the immersion in the narrative, followed with scattered smaller banner ads littered throughout the run time.

This new company slapped a huge banner ad that takes up 1/3 of the screen that’s present during the entire run time. Just insane when it comes to marketing because I can’t even remember the company and made me switch off. VPN + torrent will be a blessing when I can find better versions and get off these streaming sites that just carry them.

  • I don’t wear headsets but I have a similar shape (not sure if it’s as pronounced since I haven’t shaved it like that). The article goes onto explain that it takes near 300lbs of pressure to dent the skull and if anything it’s just soft tissue/fat being weird, which can go away through massage and giving it a break lol.

I guess if you’re wearing something as tight as a belt it might make the fat form around differently. I’m skeptical though, I just don’t know what kind of devices these guys are specifically wearing and the weight/time duration so I guess anything is possible.

  • Concentrate on only one aspect of the game that you think you’ll enjoy and the rest becomes side-play you can enjoy leisurely. For instance I was on a huge korok seed hunt with BOTW because I love collecting things like that. As I cleared an area I would move further out and slowly got into the open world like that.

For another style of game I concentrated on just mining with Eve online because it’s so information dense you will overwhelm yourself trying to learn the basics of everything. Few days of mining and I was excited about trying out some combat missions etc.

Just don’t look at the overall picture, focus on a mini aspect of the game and expand from there.

  • I’m hopeful that these are just growing pains as compatibility and optimization is worked on. I’m not sure on the developing side what’s going on and what their plans are, but I think this latest episode with Reddit shenanigans shows that it’s necessary to continue working on future platforms over continuing to promote the “product” that Reddit has become now.

  • My problem with the “free API” is there are no control mechanisms for it. What’s to stop Reddit from discontinuing the free contract if they decide to develop their own specific use App? A creator or developer of any said App will be beholden to bend or subjugate themselves to the whims of Reddit admins, any controversial comments or events like that of Apollo could nullify the free API if they don’t approve of your actions.

It’s a slippery slope and we’ve already been shown that Reddit can and will change/vilify anyone who doesn’t fall in line especially when IPO time comes.
