341·9 months agoLogically yes, downloading or a sharing a digital file is a “lost sale” - but as Aaron Swartz said - “lost sales” are also caused by Earthquakes, Libraries/DVD Rentals, Negative Yelp reviews, Market Competitors, and so on. Why just blame it on file sharing…

I hope you noticed that the key phrase in your comment is “your content”
Good luck claiming any of the content on the streaming platforms as “your”

Whenever I hear this argument
“Most people are not interesting enough to profile, so they don’t need this XYZ privacy tool…”
I always have this ready as a counter argument

I do exactly the same. I always opt for the earliest free prime delivery available, even for just one item in my order.
Fuck their Amazon delivery day and No rush shipping. “Delivery in fewer trips to your home” ? I have exactly zero fucks to give - I need my stuff as early as possible as my prime membership will let me, even if at 4 AM in the morning, because I am freaking paying for it.
And “green for the environment” my ass - I know they don’t care about environment, and I don’t care about the gas tank of their delivery vans.

If you are done with what you were set out to do, then sure, upgrade it if it’s free.
For torrents, a VPN might be the best bet as others have pointed out. But for direct download, just DoH should be enough.

The only paid app that I have is Moon+ Reader Pro.
I read a boatload of ebooks on my device, and this has been my ebook-reader of choice for a while. I found it to be so good that I did the IAP, and stopped using Librera Reader.
For all that matters, I am a huge supporter of FOSS apps (that’s the reason I have only one paid app lol) - but Moon+ reader Pro beats Librera in two areas - Librera is pretty slow when it tries to open a huge file, and Librera also can’t download book covers like Moon+ does.
