Ahhh… big oil paint dollars.
Have we considered that these protests are astroturfing by big professional art-restoration backers?
By the same metric, neck tourniquets work wonders for headaches.
Might have to break out my Newton as a precautionary measure.
Offer to trim her armor, girls like trimmed armor, Zezima told me.
It was more a joke about the people who keep uploading videos of them “offroading” in their cybertrucks (trying to justify their purchase) and it’s really no different than a whole lot of actual rural roads that people drive on daily with their 20 year old two wheel drives sedans.
Probably need them for off-roading on rural gravel roads.
If you enjoy reading, !Books@Lemmy.world is pretty active place to discuss what you’re reading and review it or get recommendations.
I try to post significant price drops routinely to !ebookdeals@literature.cafe as well. I mostly post ones that I have heard good things about / read myself and really enjoyed and are valid at all 3 big US ebook retailers, Kobo, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon at the same time or Humble Bundles. There’s no rule against others posting deals they endorse for other regions or other books, I just wanted to avoid it being a firehouse of spammy links and I only shop US Stores.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means.
Ugh, and during the start of Pride month too…. Why can’t people just leave these women and their sheep alone.
Without thinking about the validity of the ICCs argument for it, I wonder if part of their concern is whether or not having an antagonist like the ICC doesn’t shore up potentially eroding domestic support from Gantz and his allies.
I wonder how hard it will be to make this all… DISAPPEAR…
I know. It just seemed to me that their influence began to ramp up even more (perhaps that was just my local troop though) when the LDS Church started paying registrations and activities fees in the early 90s but it truthfully happened slowly like boiling a frog over a long time.
In the US they never dropped the mandatory overtures to religiosity. In fact, there was a period in the 90s-early 2000s where one sizable religious group who had replaced their prior youth organization with the BSA got pretty involved at the national level to the detriment of the program as a whole. While it’s not really required in any real sense at the troop level, you do have to affirm a belief in some “higher power” as an adult volunteer. (I’m an Eagle Scout and now atheist)
In Sweden, the Svenska Scoutförbundet was an outgrowth from the original UK scouting movement, but I don’t know how big it was/is.
This very reason is why I cut off both thumbs. Can’t force me to unlock my phone with my thumb print now. Checkmate, cops.

Less risk of computer viruses, higher risk of bird flu though.
I suspect the “source” they are referring to is Bari Weiss’s “The Free Press” with is all in on “anti-woke” as an agenda, and those that use that derogatorily are pretty much all right-wing sites for pushing an agenda.
And yep, if you read his arguments, they are all basically rehashed right-wing complaints. He misquotes the Muller report for Bill Bar’s misleading summary, overstates the reliability of the Laptop, and gets bogged down in the lab leak theory without doing the sort of authentication that one would expect from someone in the media trying to show how unbiased they are vs everyone else. It’s all right wing pushed talking points.
I really liked Dan Kelly’s response, it bares the partisan bent of the claims and failure of Berliner to put authenticity of claims before partisanship.
This one retreads a lot of the same water but has enough other stuff to justify reading it too: https://carriekaufman.substack.com/p/nprs-uri-berliner-exposes-how-liberal?triedRedirect=true
I love SwiftOnSecurity.
They usually remind me they’re in business once a year when I see people online complaining about them killing off something else that was incredibly useful but that Google just got bored with.
