I think the idea here is that it’s a man-made reservoir and they’re not worried about maintaining an ecosystem.

My thoughts are that the title should be relevant.
I don’t know how, but Lemmy is the least confusing to use application within the Fediverse.
I’ve only used Lemmy and this is a scary thought.
I know some people don’t want it anyway, but if there is ever going to be a mass exodus from the corporations to the fediverse, fediverse needs to seriously work on the sign up process. And can’t threaten defederation every 5 minutes, which probably means they need proper modding tools/features.
My guess is that people who are against it are expecting to make less money because advertisers will be able to say they don’t want to be on streams that are labeled “x”.
I’ll believe it when I see it!
Hmm still takes me to the unarchived one. I wonder if link updates don’t propagate across instances.
Great article. I wouldn’t use quotation marks around traitor in the title! He was absolutely a traitor.
Even the government is bigger in Texas.
I want it to hurt them. I want it to fail. But I fear they’re doing this now because they’ve run the numbers and are pretty sure the vocal minority that will leave permanently won’t be noticed in a month.
Great game, the whole concept is very neat. I loved the combo of survival, action, challenge and story. Also, the devs keep adding more to it, so there’s a lot to do. I played many hours and I’d say it’s a no brainer to try on game pass, and very good value for $60. Not sure what it costs now.
Weary may not be the best word to start with haha!
I don’t understand how the links are even related. All I missing something?
Is it a reservoir? If it’s a man-made reservoir you are not expecting or desiring it to become a natural ecosystem. Your primary goals are to keep the water there and keep it clean.
But it’s not meant to be a natural ecosystem where you’re trying to protect it.
But as I mentioned above I don’t think there should be much of an environmental impact. Man-made reservoirs are not usually aquatic ecosystems, so it shouldn’t be a factor. Unfortunately, I haven’t really found any info to back that statement up.
They do mention that the water helps cool the solar panels. There’s a math problem here… Solar energy converted by water directly vs with solar panels, etc etc.
Yeah I was totally thinking of the Vertitasium video!
It’s built on a reservoir so I assume that means waves aren’t an issue. I was glad to see it was a reservoir and not a natural lake or ocean. It means there shouldn’t be any (?) environmental impact.
I also wonder if it is beneficial for reducing evaporation.
There’s a bit more detailed info in the press release from last year about the start of the project. It’s on the website linked in the article.
Usenet requires paying for a service though, right?
