My computer science teachers were all over 70 and *nix users, that’s the generation that created a lot of computer stuff we use to this day.
Death to fascism. End the state, promote happiness, break all cages. Love yer brain -wear a mask!

Nope, Reddit was very different back then. Lemmy feels no different than Reddit does now.
You could like make a simple accumulator machine out of logic gates and enter binary instructions expressed in hexadecimal into its register to program it, yeah, but it’s not capable of all the operations of a computer. But yes the first programming was just op codes, switches flipped or punch cards, there was no assembly language. But assembly language is pretty much just mnemonics for operations and registers. Like I had to write a couple C programs in school and use GNU C compiler to disassemble them into x86 assembly and see what it was doing on that level, then we “wrote” some x86 assembly by copypasting a lot of instructions but its not that hard to make something that works in like x86 assembly or like Jasmin (Java virtual machine assembly language) if it’s simple enough.
Those names were always parodying the names of actual corporations. I’m pretty sure Weyland Yutani is basically supposed to be like Lockheed Mitsubishi
Good on you M8 glad it works well.
This is basically it, we just need better hardware in android tablets and maybe more optimization, Google is trying with tensor but it is a ways off.
Agreed about the software. I wish we had a base Android tablet with the same hardware as the iPad Pro.
True, that was poor word choice. I guess it would just be “operability?” Or “integration?”
Sheer processing power, stylus compatibility, and interoperability with computers of the same brand, which Samsung does too. I want an Android tablet that has as good a stylus and CPU speeds, then I would be right on it, because Android is a superior mobile OS in many ways. I loved my Nexus 7 and my ASUS Transformer but they just weren’t there yet.
No android tablet since then you mean. I loved that thing. I still use Pixel phones but I caved and bought an iPad. Even the Pixel tablet can’t compare.
I am old enough to not care what people on the internet think which is why I posted this, I am battle hardened
I had the same journey but I’m pretty sure I found Slashdot by way of boingboing which I found by way of Diesel Sweeties blog posts when I first got a DSL connection in 2002 and was looking for comics and blogs to fill up my trendy new RSS reader lol
Some sweet older ladies used to work for the NSA like my grandma, and she only had me get rid of her Linux mint partition because she wasn’t using it much
