  • Switched to Mint over a year ago from win 10 on my desktop and my wives laptop, we both love it. It was fresh, user friendly and familiar in the same time. To be fair we are pretty much average users without any specialized needs, other than gaming.

Later this year I built a new gaming pc 100% with Linux in mind. I am running Bazzite on it and it works absolutely amazing. Bazzite is currently my favourite distro. Im not a distro hopper or a big tinkerer myself, don’t have time for experimenting, so not planning to switch. It just works perfectly.

  • In my country its usually required for new builds to have 2 methods of heating. People usually have gas or heat pumps as primary but almost all of them puts a fireplace as well in the house, so chimneys here are very common.

I also have a fireplace additional to a heat pump, but I would only use it if there was a power outage for multiple days during winter.

So yeah, fireplaces are mainly for the vibes :)

Its just sad that people who know how internet search works for the sake of comfort let someone else decide what they see when searching for stuff.

Stupid people and internet illiterate people exist since the dawn of the internet. Thats not news.

Whats scary is how a new generation of people will lose or not develop basic critical thinking and research skills, and let an algorithm serve up content to them when looking for information.

  • Heard the manual vs automatic argument million times. I learned to drive using manual, my first few cars were all manuals and this is all I knew for a long time.

When we bought our first car together with my wife we got an automatic. She is a less confident driver, and wanted an automatic car. I dont mind it at all, got used to it and now I don’t miss manual at all. She is a much safer driver, under stress or in a sticky situation the manual transmission is a an extra thing to worry about and I feel calmer knowing that she can fully concentrate on the road instead of shifting.

I think manual is great for experienced drivers, but automatic is so much safer for beginners and people like my wife.
