Steam has a native Linux client that uses a custom version of Wine called Proton. It handles all the emulator settings for you. All the Steam games I bought in Windows run just fine under Linux. And amost all my older, non-Steam games (like Deus Ex or Giants: Citizen Kabuto) work great under Wine.

I’ve been playing Bethesda games since Oblivion. I finally stopped pre-ordering after Fallout 4. I’m getting sick of immersion-breaking bugs and computer-generated fetch quests taking the place of real story writing.

I’d love it if VirtualBox emulated some really basic 3D cards (Voodoo 3, Radeon 9800) so I could do some old school gaming. I have a few old Windows games that won’t run under Wine.

Imagine if Wine became the new Windows. (Or became all that was left of Windows).

Walk into any old graveyard and notice all the tiny little tombstones of children who died before the age of two. Before vaccines were in use.

I’ve got two separate drives. Linux Mint on an SSD and Windows 10 on an older, mechanical drive. Leave the Windows drive alone. Make the Linux drive the first drive in your BIOS boot order, with the option to boot to Windows as your second drive.

If your GRUB menu doesn’t show the Windows drive yet, run “sudo update-grub” to detect it. When your reboot, the bootloader should show both options.

I think I’ve managed to avoid this by making the Linux drive my boot drive and by leaving the Windows drive untouched. (i.e. grub bootloader on the Linux drive, with option to boot to Windows as the second choice)

Google has been telegraphing this for months. Either switch browsers now or enjoy your ads.

I also recommend NewPipe for Android. It lets you download in multiple formats and shows comments in a mobile format (you can get it through the F-Droid store or from github.)

Youtube isn’t some one of a kind miracle. There’s at least a dozen already-established streaming platforms that would take its place. There are thousands of websites that have no problems hosting gigs and gigs of porn, so it’s not as difficult as people think.

No, because creativity is not AI’s strong suit. What AIs “create” is almost always based on something a human being made first.

And corporations will absolutely abuse this copyright law to steal content and revenue from actual, creative people.
