I love the modern XCOM games, I love card games, I love games where the story follows a new superhero in an established superhero universe, I love XMen.

Yet.

Whilst I obviously was so excited for Marvel’s Midnight Son’s I was planning ahead to ask for cash to buy it full price for a birthday or something rather (to both play right away and support games that heavily target my tastes) rather than just wait for a deep sale a few years later like I normally would, all the buy this version and add on bits ala carte or buy this version that has some things but not all things but who know which is which or buy this super version that has the entire game or buy this hyper-mega version that has all of that and also stuff that’s not actually part of the game or buy a version that has the stuff that isn’t part of the game and most of the game… bullshit, just completely killed any interest I had in it.

I might pick it up and play it one day when it’s literally a few quid but quite possibly not at this point.

Just sell me the thing. Don’t complicate it. If I need to spend ages figuring out exactly which parts of a game I haven’t even played yet I do and don’t care about so I can try to see how close to a normal price I can pay and still get all the actual game, I’d rather just use that time to go play a game that wasn’t designed by MBE’s.

Then why don’t you stop wasting your precious time here and spend it demanding those taxes go towards paying for changes that allow you to earn a living, and spend time with your family without having to make dangerously long drives on a regular basis?

we often combine grabbing food or taking a break from driving with stopping a charger. It does take a bit more planning but we have a lot more control over our time in these situations. In practice, it does not feel like much of an imposition.

While you might decide not to, you ought to be planning those same stops irrespective of fuel or range. Even if you have a magic sci-fi car with it’s own micro cold fusion generator good for a 1000 years, you should still be planning the exact same rest stops for your driver.

And it takes about half an hour to recharge the driver back to the same level of safety as when they started.

on the remaining you wouldn’t mind a coffee break to stretch your legs once in a while. Yes that even applies to travelling salesmen and the like: Go stretch your legs and run some numbers while you charge (but the X days out of Y will look different).

Forget “wouldn’t mind”, you (one) absolutely owe it to other road users to take those breaks. It just isn’t safe to drive continuesly for hours and hours without them. You aren’t magically the exception, you are a human being like everyone else and you are not a safe driver after hours of unbroken driving. Without exception (and that does include professional drivers who sadly are contractually required to do so.)

If you drive an electric cross country you’ll be charging it for as long as and as regularly as the minimum amount of breaks you must take in order to drive safely. Just fucking do it even if you’re in a fossil fuel car that technically could let you avoid taking those breaks. Why are people like this‽

Your original statement does not. If it was intended to, then you need to attend to the fact that you have not represented your views on the matter effectively and people are responding to you as though your views were other than they are.

If the original comment when read by people who aren’t you means what you meant it to mean, then this second comment is horseshit and you should either stand by what you said and accept that others find it repellent, or perhaps, reconsider your position.

To be clear: Your original comment is unambiguously saying that you support the rise of a fascist state that would intentionally harm minorities. It does not matter if your intention was otherwise and you’ve just not made yourself sufficiently clear. We only know what you actually said. What you actually said is that you are in favour of this. By all means confirm that you are and own it, or, if you are not in favour, just fucking figure out what you need to change for the comment to reflect your actual values and edit it (possibly with a footnote explaining you needed to edit it because it didn’t quite express what you meant originally.)

Don’t just throw your hands in the air and complain that people are responding to the things you said as though they are what you meant. And if they are what you meant, then fuck right off with trying to figure out how to soften it just enough to get people onside with you.

There will always be people who fall for these traps. Of course they are individually to blame for being duped however just blaming them doesn’t solve anything. The solution is to try to reduce how many do by providing great education (formally and culturally), minimising the ability for fascists to find platforms to spread their messaging and offering real solutions to the problems that those people have so they don’t feel they need to latch onto anyone offering to do so for them.

As such, anyone who should be expected to understand this and who is in a position to achieve those goals. Is to blame for the inevitable consequences of not doing so (ie, neo-liberal political entities.)

Counterpoint: the generic communities being hosted on Lemmy.ml (an instance with a very strong political identity) simply because it was oldest was a real risk for the growth of Lemmy as a whole and this is a fantastic opportunity to rebuild those core communities on more generic Instances like Lemmy.world.

I haven’t looked at that instance but can corroborate that there are two very different groups called skinheads who’s philosophy’s are entirely incompatible with one another so it is always important to clear up which one you’re dealing with.

Yes they do to one degree or another that I’m not certain of. You definitely see all of the local (ie lemmy.world) communities and the communities you’ve subscribed to from other instances on the all tab. I think you actually can see content come up from any community from other instances that lemmy.world is federated with whether you have subscribed to them or not (ie, lemmy.world and that instance both have their settings such that lemmy.world users have access to that instance’s communities. So for example you wont see content from the weird nazi instance because lemmy.world has defederated from them.)

Actually now I’m saying this I think it might be more subtle still. I think all shows everything from lemmy.world plus any community from a federated instance that a lemmy.world user has interacted with.

So if lemmy.world is federated with lemmy.madeup but noone from lemmy.world has interacted with their content yet they wont show up in all but once lemmy.world users have visited !madeup@lemmy.madeup and !catpics@lemmy.madeup then the c/madeup and c/catpics communities from lemmy.madeup would then show up in lemmy.world’s all feed. I’m like 80%+ sure that’s how it works. I’m still learning too!

Lemmy.world. Which is ONE example of a Lemmy instance. Lemmy instances don’t even need to have Lemmy in the name.

Lemmy is a system that allows anyone to create what is essentially their own Reddit. Each of those are called instances. Lemmy.world is one of those, Lemmy.ml, is another, Beehaw is a third. Each of those Lemmy instances are run by different people for different reasons. Each of them have their own communities. A community is like a subreddit. The post you commented on (“PSA: Lemmy.ml is not Lemmy”) was posted to the “Fediverse” community on Lemmy.world. Lemmy.ml could (and possibly does) have it’s own Fediverse community. That would be separately run with separate content to the Lemmy.world Fediverse community.

Where it gets a little confusing, is that users in each of those different instances, can access and participate in the communities in each other’s instances. IE, if you set up your own Lemmy instance called TimeLighter.IsCool and created a community called “Timelighter appreciation society” I could potentially join that community using my Lemmy.world account (assuming you allowed it.) I wouldn’t need to create an account specifically on the TimeLighter.IsCool Lemmy to access it. If I did though I’d still (in theory) be able to use it to participate in the communities here at Lemmy.world.
