Intel GPUs look like a great value. And AV1 hardware acceleration is a game changer
Take 2 people that have not used gimp or krita. Ask them to daw a circle, and see which software they are able to do it in.
Gimp is a ux nightmare (or at least it used to be i haven’t used ot in years) I will try gimp 3 when it comes out in 2037
Oh yeah, it’ll work fine on any truenas/unraid/synology system it works on about anything with docker/linux there’s even a beta for windows.
My only complaint is a lack of URLbase so setting up a reverse proxy on some setups does not work well.
I doubt they really care, there’s still a way (to my knowledge) to download audiobooks from audible to mp3. You have to dig a bit to find the option from what i remember. This just makes it easier and in chapterized .m4b goodness.
If anyone is into selfhosting things I recommend audiobookshelf if you want to self host and stream audiobooks. Such a cool project!
I bought a android tv device (NVIDIA shield) and just assumed it was open source like android, turns out it’s not and they force ads on the home screen, if you jump though a ton of hoops to roll back some updates, you can turn them off, but it will re-enable them after a while. does not feel like a device I own. Even NVIDIA cannot turn off the google ads on the NVIDIA shield. you can add other launchers but they don’t make it easy and they regularly get removed as the default launcher.
At this point I’m just considering just making a mini PC with linux https://plasma-bigscreen.org/ that will stay connected to my TV. OSMC is another option; however, it does not work well with DRMed content, so I gave up on that as well; even though it’s an awesome project. Some android TV boxes are compatible with Lineage OS so that might be another option.
Exactly, either I watch it free or not at all. No way in hell I’m paying absurd pay per view prices. I just don’t care enough about any content (outside of educational content) to pay that much.
Anti piracy groups argue that 1 download/stream = -1 sale which is patently false.
What are your main dislikes of kde?
Are you aware they had a backer vote on the direction of the game? It was on if they were going to have stretch goals after the original KS pitch. 94% of the votes went to changing the game into something bigger (more features added). I understand it sucks for people that wanted the smaller more realistic game but they lost the vote. And again you can sell your ship for more than you paid, sometimes way way more. Should they have ignored the vote that was that overwhelming?
Why would they have over 500 employees? There’s plenty of valid complaints but why would they have so many employees if it was truly intended has vaporware?
It’s odd how so many people seem to take it personally when someone says something good about SC
A lot had changed in 10 years lmao
Uh oh looks like you are not following the hive mind of the sub! It’s sad but funny how little people know about SC but still insist they know its a scam when all they know is what they read from hit piece articles. I can’t wait for sc 4.0 server meshing is such a game changer
Calling it vaporware is a bit silly they have over 500 employees and have tech nobody else has you can play right now. If you have an original package you can sell it on the gray market for much more than you paid for it. I understand it has had troubled development but you don’t know what you are talking about.
Portmaster might do something like that but i haven’t used it in a while.
Imo shared seedboxes with a large app selection that includes nextcloud are the best bang for the buck storage wise, even if you never plan to use it for seeding.
I haven’t heard of harmonoid but will for sure be trying this out! It looks great
Used thinkpads especially the older ones (t480 and older) have a ton of extra parts floating around, and you can get them cheap. I built a t480 with 8th gen i7 from parts for around $170 over a year ago, it has been a great experience. I upgraded the trackpad and keyboard and plan to upgrade the screen, cooling, and battery next.
Maybe he was gaming on Wayland or something
You can always just try endeavouros. Its pretty much arch with calmaries installer. It even uses official arch repos
