I don’t go far on these roads for that reason (I break something or lose a tire). Worst case I call for a pickup. I will definitely be picking up some better tires for next season though. Most my riding currently is highway, and the occasional short stop into a gravel road, so for now it’s alright (knock on wood).

I just do light gravel roads (logging roads) since that’s mostly what we have around here. I kinda just went for it not knowing what was gonna happen, but I didn’t go fast just in case I hit a rock or rut and dropped the bike. These tires were fine, but I don’t have experience of using an off-road tire to provide a comparison, unfortunately.

It was a toss-up between this and the klr650s. The KLR was nice, but I just felt so much more comfortable on the Versys. Its also lighter, and as a new rider, I think it is beneficial (for meat least).

I save them in my camera roll so that I can share them with people. I then just never delete them and they get lost. It is nice every once in a while to spot that random meme from 5 years ago and have a small chuckle.

Out of curiosity, would they be subject to these laws/protocols/regulations if they are (developers or organization) based in the US, but offer releases hosted elsewhere in the world AND/OR develop the product with code hosted elsewhere in the world?

It is informative, but how often does the average person read this kind of information? Especially when they are set on doing something simple, such as turning off Bluetooth. What if you never use the settings menu, and only turn it off from the notification drawer? They never see that information. Not to mention that it’s such a small option (even though it’s a big paragraph) that they make it seem like they don’t want the user to disable it completely.

What they should do, is when the user disables Bluetooth the first time (anywhere on the phone), a pop up is at least shown to instruct the user that it is still scanning in the background. That way the user is informed. OR, hear me out, have background scanning disabled by default and prompt the user to enable it the first time they disable Bluetooth.

8 ball pool. The popups/ads suck, but you can play time attack mode on single player offline. Also a good time killer while online.

I was heavy into skateboarding as a kid, and I was interested in making some skateboarding media website with images and videos. I had initially began with wix, because I had no idea programming was a thing (I barely used technology, or even a phone). I messed around with it for a while, and then learned that I could make websites with just a simple html file… And the rest was history. Ended up getting into PHP, then game development with Java, etc.

I don’t know the full details, but I’ve read that Apple may be dropping the requirement to use WebKit within third party browsers in the near future. Something to look forward to.

Staying on the SQL theme… The company I work for has a fairly old (~20 years) system. There’s a feature for users and site admins to export massive amounts of data, with the option to export data from when the system was first released. Purely CSV or XML data formats. On large datasets, the time for export would vary from 10-20+ hours, and would frequently timeout, forcing you to split exports into multiple timeframes and manually merging them into a single file. The solution? Indexes! Indexes were non-existent. After adding them, export times have dropped to ~10-15 minutes, which is a rather insane performance increase, especially since a single export is accepted per account at a time.

Yeah, same here. I spend all day at a computer, last thing I want to do is spend more time at a computer. I’ve also spent more time working on my own vehicle’s, and just generally being outside more often.

One thing that I do enjoy from time to time is graphics/game programming. Nothing really ever results from any of my projects, but it is something I enjoy, as i don’t do graphics programming at my job… It’s usually systems/web development, so the difference in the type of projects I choose to do as hobby programming has helped for me.

…2 years ago, Rocket League. Last year, RL. This year, RL. Next year, RL… It never ends. Really the only game I never get bored of, and I have an embarrassingly amount of hours on it. Almost purely snowday.

The college I went to taught COBOL in 2 mainframe courses, and as far as I’m aware, they still do.

It was either you like it, or you absolutely despise it. It wasn’t all the difficult, but it is very different than your standard java, C#, C++, etc, so the syntax really throws people off.

I had painted an old Lenovo desktop blue to use as a home server. Named it blueberry. Recently upgraded servers using a black case. Named it blackberry.

What are your print settings? Nozzle temp, bed temp, how close is the nozzle to the bed on the first layer, etc?

There’s always a learning curve going from one thing to another. Like you said, going from Android to iOS, learning the UI and where things are placed may take some time to get used to at first. I went from Android to an iPhone 12 a couple years ago, and it took some time to learn. Same goes for switching from iOS to Android. That being said, it doesn’t mean the UI is confusing.

I will agree it’s limiting, but it isn’t anywhere close to confusing. The one thing I will say is that some app settings are tucked away in the iOS settings app, which I would prefer them to be in the actual app.

Beyond that, I don’t find it confusing at all.

Up until when the iPhone 12 came out, I used Android. Then I got an iPhone 12 Pro and I haven’t hated it. I do miss many of the customization features available on Android, but iOS is extremely polished, and simple.

Where it falls short is the apps that I sometimes used on Android, are not available on iOS. Then you get into the options for Reddit (not any more), other social apps, and now Lemmy. Apps for the same service can vary in features, which can be a big deal.

I often find myself using my old s10 for apps like Jerboa (Mlem is okay, but I prefer Jerbo), apps for car diagnostics, previously Boost for Reddit, etc.

My next phone will likely be Android. However, probably not for another year or two, maybe longer. I’m waiting for a big step in hardware, and potentially an option with a hidden selfie camera. I’d love to have a full screen phone from the likes of Google or Samsung. One can wish.
