1 year agoI want the actual reviews so I have at least some chance of figuring out if the reviewer is a bot, a shill, a customer, or is reviewing the UPS guy instead of the product.

32·1 year agoThey’re both violations of the conditions of release. Two separate violations, unrelated except for being prohibited behavior.
It’s totally different from wow. Wow is a real-time mmo. BG3 is a turn-based fantasy RPG (think Divinity:Original Sin or Wasteland 3).
It can force those who disagree with defederating to find a new instance that has access to all the communities they want. It also makes onboarding new people significantly more complicated, as their choice of instance will drastically influence their feed.
To be clear, I’m not arguing against defederation, just pointing out that it causes issues that need dealt with.
I remember hearing an interview with him many years ago, and he shared a story about the shenanigans he got up to as a kid… he was into phone phreaking (used to be you could control the entire phone system by playing specific tones into any phone) and reprogrammed the phone system to think his friend’s home phone was a pay phone. His friend’s mom would try to call someone and the phone would ask her to deposit 20c. She was furious, and sent her son over to demand he fix it immediately.
I always thought that was one of the best pranks ever. RIP to a legend.
It also said Amazon put customers seeking to cancel through a cumbersome “four-page, six-click, fifteen option” process, which the FTC said was known internally as “Iliad” in a nod to the Greek epic about the “long, arduous Trojan War”.
At least we get to live in a dystopian hellscape that respects the classics.

He’s been pretty open about what he was doing. Here’s a lawyer going over the publicly available evidence back when Tate was first arrested. Presumably the cops found more evidence in the 5 months since then and will show it in court.
Tl;dw Tate publicly admitted to sex trafficking, kidnapping (through fraud), defrauding his girls, and tax evasion.
9·1 year agoIt is a 4th amendment violation, but some shit judge ruled otherwise at some point so they get to pretend it isn’t.
