Good point on the phone. I have a pc mainly because…

• I’m older and I’m just used to it
• I’m an enthusiast and do some programming, specialized apps, etc that don’t and won’t work on phones
• I do pc gaming
• I build my own systems
• I play with linux too

If I just did browser, messaging, mobile apps/games and calls I’d just have a phone.

I wish tools like ad-block would allow everything to download in the background but just block things like ads from rendering. That would prevent ad block detectors from knowing they are being blocked,

Maybe write up some basic admin instructions (updating, services start/stop, user management, etc). Hire yourself out as a consultant on call if you leave :D

But if you left tomorrow would they be able to admin them?

Link to that? I don’t see any such protections except for children and some for journalists. Nothing saying you can’t be banned if they want.

Never expect free speech (or other constitutional protections) in a private forum, which is one reason the right is always gung-ho for privatization.

We didn’t have -R, you had to go into every subdirectory and run the command manually.

Surprised to hear stability questioned. We have RHEL systems at work that have been running 24/7 for over a year.

I wouldn’t be surprised if they get a class action suit over security/data violations.

I’ll add, want to see your average person roll their eyes and say “nope”, just tell them they have to manually edit a bunch of config files to get going. How much about your car do you need to know to start your car and get somewhere?

It reminds me of how inside people tried to claw back the meaning of the word “hacker” from general use as a negative. Sorry but that ship sailed a long time ago.

I would get slightly amused every time I typed “lust” instead of “list” as a kid in applesoft basic.

As someone who uses RHEL for work every time I have to set something up on a windows system I groan. It really boils down to the app, some are very easy to use but it seems anything that involves OS config, the registry and permissions becomes a royal pita. Linux isn’t 100% pain free (looking at you package conflicts) and SSL config sucks on all OS’s but the majority of the time it presents smaller hurdles because I can dig into any part I need to.

That is a lot of propaganda/sec
