As long as it’s a easily toogled off as the search bar is, I don’t mind.
Them getting rid of the ability to have different windows of the same kind with full title bar next to each other IMHO is a much bigger pain.

D4 really isn’t that different from current D3. In some areas it’s actually better. But of course both of those suck compared to D2 or PoE.
Exactly and frankly it’s only right to point out this cultural heritage even if obviously Ukraine doesn’t want to conquer these territories. Especially since Russia actively tries to rewrite cultural history about it. And that’s by no means limited to people with Ukrainian roots in Russia but they actively rewrite Russian history to discredit dozens of cultural minorities. Very similar to China’s ongoing “project” to make China as “Han Chinese” as possible.
Well duh. What did you think would happen? That they start loving Israel?
You can’t beat people to stop hating you.
Desperate people resort to desperate measures when normal approaches fail.
Oh great, that NEVER backfired massively.
But then… why does this system exist?!
Because it works and makes them money! You can bet that other publishers will take notice and you’ll see such money grabbing schemes becoming more and more common.
There’s no need to pretend. A war crime doesn’t justify the other side to commit one in return. The international law certainly doesn’t support a kind of tally system to check if one side still has committed to many crimes and a few more against them are OK.
How do they maintain morale for the remaining troops if they execute their own?
They don’t care about morale. They rule their troop with brutal means.
And how would they recruite fresh ones if this will be the possible fate of the troops?
Through forced conscription.
Not defending Russia, but I believe most militaries have rules on the books saying that field executions for disobeying orders are a necessary part of war.
The last time western powers seriously used this was WW1. WW1 was quite famous and hated exactly because of the flippant use of executions of soldiers who weren’t willing or able to follow horrific orders. After that you’ll find a hard time to find examples. Especially after WW2. I certainly haven’t heard of a single US soldier for example who was executed in the field in Iraq or Afghanistan nor any death penalty even when found guilty of serious charges against them like Abu Ghraib.
So yeah, no. Russia isn’t just doing what every other military is doing as well.
With the natural resources they have, they could have been a major member of the EU providing their people a lifestyle similar to Norway. But no, after the fall of the USSR they decided to go full speed towards a dictatorship. Such a shame.
Wait! You actually think that they use common PR methods to get as much attention to their cause as possible? Who would have thought!
Wait until you find out that Rosa Parks didn’t just randomly decided to sit in front of the bus but was working with the civil rights movement the whole time!
Exactly. Leningrad 2.0 certainly wouldn’t look good for Israel.
How fragile is their regime if it is threatened by race numbers?
Yes.
While I agree that it’s rather sad for developer not hosting their Wiki, I really never had any problem with the old hoster of the Minecraft Wiki. I certainly didn’t perceive it as a “crappy provider”. It did exactly what it needed to and there weren’t any intrusive adds or at least not to my attention. But maybe I’m just really good at ignoring adds myself.
Edit: Or mabye my add blocker did help, hard to tell since I haven’t seen the internet without it since years now.
I can’t imagine that it is.
If that’s the case then they could simply up the charge next year to $10 to get even more money for doing absolutely nothing. And then to $20 the next year and so forth. There’s no sane court anywhere in the world who would say “Yeah, that sounds reasonable!” and even the less sane ones would think that’s bonkers.
I’m pretty sure that even if the license agreement does have such language that it won’t uphold in court. And there are enough big companies using Unity for this to go to court if they try to come to collect.
I mean seriously, if that would be legally possible, nothing would prevent them from uping the charge to $10, $20 or even $100 per installation, applied retroactively.
Of course? Did anyone expect something else? And frankly they would be extremely stupid if they did anything they didn’t check with their lawyer first.
And LMG would be stupid to say or release anything else on that topic! This is potential lawsuit country, they will walk very carefully and I would be surpised if they didn’t check every public communication with their lawyer first.
Unfortunately climate change really doesn’t care about fairness. It just reacts to external inputs and then affects everyone, regardless of how much or little they have contributed to it.
The new terminal for example is a rather neat improvement over the old command prompt, especially with the integration of Linux systems. Winget also is rather nice. Just two examples. So yeah with all the valid criticism Microsoft deserves for quite a bit of policies, I don’t think your hyperbole holds up.
