the point is making comments like that though, drive engagement. good news doesn’t drive engagement.

FWIW i used to be part of a really cool bicycle group. Then a bunch of miserable people choices and decided everything we did was racist and sexist and anti-trans. If you dared to say that isn’t the case, they would tell you that it’s because YOU are racist/sexist/anti-trans. These were the same people who spend all their free time making social media posts about how awful everyone is and how great they are. Their entire social world is limited to ‘i am good people and everyone else who isn’t like me is bad people’ and they subsist on a diet of social media induced RAGE at the ‘bad people’.

Amendments take 3/4s of the states to ratify them. that isn’t going to happen. i doubt even 1/3 of blue states would ratify such an amendment.

I gave up on dating/relationships because I realized 95% of it is just the fantasy someone has in their head of the other person. It has very little to do with reality of day to day life. Hence why so many people fall for these romance scams. It’s fan fiction of themselves. No doubt this lady was really congratulating herself on scoring an ‘astronaut’. Probably works in an office with plenty of viable real people, but they are too ‘boring’ for her to ever consider… no she ‘deserves’ an astronaut.

the problem with this place is it’s not user-friendly. and the posts/comments are too nerdy/niche for most people. my lemmy frontpage is like 50% linux nonsense. ordinary people dont’ know what linux is.

for me it’s mostly when i get flooded by comments from extremist nutbags. at least on lemmy they arne’t reporting me to get me banned site-wide. they mostly just send me links via messaging to ‘educate’ me. which is annoying but not pathetic.

most of the banning comes from the bigger subs, not the small niche ones.

every time i have been banned it’s from political comments in a larger sub. never a niche one. my last ban was for supporting the mayor in a city subreddit. apparently it’s ‘enabling racism’ to mention the race of your mayor in a positive light.

Everyone did it. They are the last hold out.

i already have had multiple weirdos harass me on lemmy for not being leftist enough. i’ve blocked dozens now, and really kills the experience to have some crazy people go around and brigading your comments because you disagree with their political viewpoint slightly.
