  • This one seems more cut and dry that other global issues. Madurai has been ruling Venezuela for a long time. An election was held where he wouldn’t let leaders stand against him in the election and had anyone viewed as possibly winning arrested. He did allow the one person to run who he felt wasn’t a threat. That person ended up winning the election but Maduro won’t recognize that he lost and won’t release any proof that he won. The person that won has released proof that he won. Now Maduro says that anyone doubting his narrative is a terrorist. Obviously Russia and China are siding with Maduro as they don’t much like elections either but the rest of the world is pretty unhappy about this development along with the majority of the Venezuelan population. Current supports and members of the party that won are apparently in the embassy that Maduro appears to be surrounding.

  • This is a really tough situation. What would be the best response to this? It’s a humanitarian crisis and the people of Haiti are going to suffer immensely but what can other countries do? I don’t know much about the gang leader “Barbecue” but I’d wager he isn’t going to be a benevolent leader so just letting him take over is probably going to make things worse. At the same time, I don’t even think a UN peacekeeping force is going to have a positive impact as I’m pretty sure the people of Haiti are suspicious of EU powers due to their history. I can’t see a solution to this one that brings about a stable Haiti in the near term. Hopefully someone with more awareness in this topic could share some insights though.

  • I run AD at home but it’s because my job is in enterprise software engineering and so running these programs in my home lab requires AD integrations. It’s also needed for HyperV and SCVMM along with things like SQL server auth and GMSA which I can’t get out of testing. Ironically most of my work is in open source/Linux but Windows servers are all over the Enterprise so I don’t have a choice but to run this stuff. No real users on it and just used for the lab.
