  • For me, it’s definitely option 2. I really like the way Dark Souls handles it, where the armor sets looks the same on both genders, and everyone can be as tart or as modest as they like.

Maybe there’s a case to be made for a setting in BG3 that pixelates the naughty bits, but looking through youtube comments on BG3 romance scenes (for science!), most people seem to think the nudity is funny more than anything else. The few complaints about nudity really seem to be about the fact that they have to look at a dick/gay couple, which i don’t have too much sympathy for.

Chipotle Mexican Grill is working on a way to split the work of making guacamole between humans and machines.

The Newport Beach-based chain is partnering with an El Segundo-based company called Vebu Labs to develop a cobot, or collaborative robot, that can slice in half, core and peel avocados before a staff member takes over to mash them and prepare the guac.

The prototype robot is called Autocado, according to a news release, and it is being tested at Chipotle’s test kitchen in Irvine, according to a news release.

The hope is that Autocado will cut the roughly 50 minutes it takes to make guacamole in half, the news release said, by processing 25 pounds of avocados at a time and collecting the waste.

Chipotle has a history of testing cobots. Last year it tested a machine named Chippy that could fry and season tortilla chips. The goal, chief restaurant officer Scott Boatwright said at the time, was to farm out some of the more repetitive kitchen duties to machines and leave humans with the more satisfying ones.

Boatwright also said that Chipotle is devoted to hand-mashed guacamole.

In 2019, the chain made a commercial with Oscar-winning filmmaker Errol Morris that featured a demonstration on how to mash guac by the manager of a Chipotle restaurant in Temecula.

SAN JOSE — A big development of affordable homes has landed the financing it needs to launch construction as soon as this month at a site next to a train station near downtown San Jose.

Tamien Station has obtained roughly $139 million in funding from an array of government agencies to build an affordable housing project at 1197 Lick Avenue in San Jose, according to public records and the project’s principal developers, Core Cos. and Republic Urban Properties.

In addition to real estate veterans Core Cos. and Republic Urban, the project’s key players include the Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority and Central Valley Coalition for Affordable Housing.

The housing would rise next to Tamien Station, which accommodates light rail and Caltrain stops.

The Tamien Station residential project is slated to begin construction around July 23. The housing complex should be complete by July 2025.

Along with the housing, the project will include 30,000 square feet of ground-floor commercial space that will be dedicated to an onsite daycare center, according to project developers Core Cos. and Republic Urban. The developers brought Citibank on board as the primary construction lender for the housing.

The development will consist of 135 apartments that will be made affordable for people who earn 30% to 60% of the area’s median income.

As of June 2023, the state Housing and Community Development Department estimated that the area median income for a family of four in Santa Clara County was $181,300.

This means a four-person household that earns $54,390 to $108,780 in yearly income would be eligible for the Tamien Station housing.

“Our success in securing financing reflects the important opportunity Tamien Station provides to combine critically needed housing and daycare on a major transit hub,” said Richard Truempler, a Core Cos. senior vice president.

The project funding consists primarily of a $66 million bond allocation from the state debt allocation panel, $31 million in grants from the state housing agency, up to $25 million from Santa Clara County Measure A funds and $17 million from the city of San Jose. The county financing was recorded in recent days through a construction loan.

The Valley Transportation Authority is providing the site to the project developers through a ground lease of the land for the housing, documents on file with the Santa Clara County Recorder’s Office show.

“VTA’s partnerships with developers are providing a triple win for the Santa Clara Valley community with new affordable housing and development for a range of incomes that increase transit ridership,” said Ron Golem, the VTA’s director of real estate.

  • Unfortunately, there is very little research that has evaluated the efficacy of any of these approaches in reducing the risk of burnout. Especially rare are studies modeled even loosely on randomized control trials. More common are studies with a single intervention group of volunteer participants for whom there are rarely follow‐up assessments after treatment has ended78. It is not yet clear whether burnout is generally susceptible to a range of strategies or whether it is crucial to fit the strategy to the specific context of a workplace to be effective.

OP why would you do this to us 😭

  • I feel like several things are intersecting here:

    1. PC gaming took off in the 90s. I’m not clear on the history of consoles but I’m wondering if they became widespread in the 80s? Having these devices at home probably created a larger generation of gamers.

    2. Gaming was “for boys” until very recently, and tbh the inclusion of women as the default audience for games is still a work in progress. Game protagonists are usually male, romance options usually assume the player is a straight man, even the quests and the way NPCs are written are colored by these assumptions.

    3. Video games have gotten so much more complex in a very short amount of time. The storylines are richer, the writing and visual effects have gotten signifixlcantly better. Someone who has only experienced early arcade games or clicker mobile games wouldn’t see gaming in general as a worthy hobby for adults.
