It was a very good article. Roth followed his uncle into a different line than he was told, and ended up surviving. If he had gone where he was told he wouldn’t be alive. He ate dog food scraps to stay alive at one point. Very resourceful and brave.

God bless him, and all those who lost their lives fighting in that dark moment of humanity’s history.

We did this when I was between 7-9 years. Once they had us line up on one side, and we could only cross the room, using those. Some tried to push and got ‘stranded’ between. One kid, put one in front of the other then swapped. Then again. Using two to cross. Soon many were trying to. I still remember this decades later 😁

I think it’s admirable we find heart even for ‘predators of the deep’. Though, I feel like that was still super dangerous… like if it was hurt and accidentally hurt it trying to move it and it thrashes a tail or that massive head full of teeth… humans aren’t exactly agile in standing water like that.

Ofc, the desire to help internally is still there. I feel like I would have made a call to the coast guard to pull it out to sea more.

I don’t live there though, just working through the mental checklist of “what would I do”
