I’m happy to use Flatpaks but the annoyances I’ve had are like when one application says to use you’ll need to point to the binary of another application that it depends on but very understandably doesn’t package together, figuring that out to me can be annoying so I’ll switch to a regular installation and it all just works together no fuss, no flatseal, no thinking about it really. Also some applications where it’s really nice to launch from the terminal especially with arguments or just like the current working directory and with Flatpaks instead of just right off the bat it’s application name and hit enter, Flatpak hope you remember the whole package name
org.wilson.spalding.runner.knife.ApplicationName …
Ya alias but got to remember to do that. So far anything I’d ever want to run from terminal, no Flatpak
That’s a weird headline. There are 4 schools of tibetan buddhism with the dalai lama leading one of them
Fables got to be far along enough to not get cancelled but my expectations are incredibly low. Nothing against Forza Horizon but giving a studio that has only ever made Forza Horizon games a AAA RPG reboot where the original game was known for it’s super endearing and fun writing along with a hodgepodge of promised god game mechanics in a third person RPG is a bad idea. Also using the Forza engine
So they need writers, they need game designers that do third person combat, level/creature/etc designers since racing simcades replicate real world stuff, I imagine them even needing a different voice acting director rather than whatever they do with Forza Horizon.
It’s pretty much a startup studio with a huge budget that has to upgrade the Forza engine to make content creation for quest/gameplay designers/non-programmers easy. Also studio heads have to learn how to manage the staff and content pipeline for a huge RPG game. Recipe for terrible growing pains. Should have never pushed almost all their studios towards Kinect and then live service. Maybe then Lionhead wouldn’t have atrophied and been shut down
Forza Motorsport coming out real mid was a huge surprise. It for so long was solidly competitive with Gran Turismo and then the last one just seems to have disappointed so many
My bad if I took your words the wrong way. I gave my answer for why I prefer to use the primary application, because of funding, and your response to me sounded like dismissive condescension. You may not have meant condescension but it reads like dismissive condescension to me like I’ve heard plenty of whether in or out of the software industry or academia
Is your first instinct talking to people is to be a dick? Forks pull changes downstream and hopefully push changes upstream but if you want to see either the core Firefox web browser engine or F-Droid reach more popularity, you need Mozilla support so I would rather support Mozilla directly than any fork
Support from the primary source of development is what I’d prefer. That’s where the money is. Mozilla is the only one that could actually have a sizable marketing budget along with employing dozens to hundreds of software developers
I wish Firefox would do this. I’m stubbornly always favoring it for a non-Chromium browser
The whole of Fedora atomic distros are interesting in an exercise in getting good with layering and distrobox. Pop_os 24.04 just to see if a third pillar of Linux frontends with GTK and Qt is viable. People are always pissy about Manjaro but they seem to have an interesting present being pre installed on the Orange Pi Neo handheld
Dragon Age fans could always grasp at the developing lore that David Gaider was trying to hold together through branching paths game to game. Fans even put up with Inquisition’s CW soap drama quest lines as long as they got interesting darkspawn, elven, mage/templar/chantry reveals done well. Veilguard is where fans got nothing to cheer about even. Fans now wax poetic about what could have been reading the Veilguard art book that showed concepts of the game that didn’t get made
That’s just being in denial. The game killed the series. A better Dragon Age would make the Antivan Crows a lot more interesting and integrate in elven communities with the elven gods rather than the venatori. It’s not a good Dragon Age game
Dragon Age 1-3 all had their drawbacks but could always fall back on how beloved the lore was and how it was present. Dragon Age Veilguard has much of the lore the original creator laid out but presents the revelations in its game poorly and retcons lore from previous games in sterile ways. The original creator left after 3 and over the decade has dropped tidbits about the changing culture of the studio he left
That doesn’t sound different than anytime post-WWII. Right after WWII France went straight to killing Algerians, Southeast Asians and probably more
I’ll play the game in like 4-5 years like how I played the first one years later for way cheaper. So cheap I couldn’t be disappointed with the writing and just enjoyed the solid but unremarkable game
I don’t get EA/Bioware. Fantasy is consistently more popular than scifi. Inquisition was their best selling game. Yet DA was never treated like a heavyweight like Mass Effect. My expectations tanked when David Gaider left
I would guess Telegram if the users hit the toggle wherever it’s not default. After what you’ve listed and Telegram, I’d guess Matrix/Element
Play that years down the line. The first one was OK but I paid like $15 for it with the expansion. Obsidian hasn’t had a clear jump in quality since the MS purchase. Possibly even signs of writing regression with Avowed so can’t imagine much hype for this game
Still on the Xbox One and PS4. Incredible longevity. Expect the same for the PS5 when the PS6 comes out
I don’t think Americans and Europeans know how much invasions into southeast Asia in the 1800s and prior there were. It’s not a post-WW2 thing. It’s centuries of atrocities in the region. Someday the UK are going to be grandstanding against India too and people out here will be confused why Indians aren’t wistfully looking back to the days of the British empire exporting foods by coercion while Indians go through famines
Any bit of user base growth helps get the ball rolling for future MS/USA missteps. Linux has just been getting better and easier year after year. It’s been a 30 year marathon ready for another 30+ years of development
