Agreed, imho calibration is the biggest issue. Also print times - generally I wouldn’t leave a print job running (e.g. in hotel room whilst I’m out sightseeing) without being near or at least monitoring it. And finally the smell of some filaments can bother some people.

On the otherhand it looks really neat, the size is great and I think it’d be a good solution to your requirements. Just don’t be surprised if you end up making a permanent space for it in order to avoid too much recalibration everytime you set it up 😂

And addressing your other concern, I think part of the original reprap ideal was that a 3D printer could print parts to build another printer, and parts to modify and improve itself. I’ve got a i3 clone and parts are usually generic and off the shelf - you might be able to check what parts it uses?

About 728 students from the four universities have been reassigned to other school … the impact on private schools will be greater, considering the lack of students and the preference for public schools.

It’s 4 rather small private universities. Doesn’t seem like any great loss to me.

I think that’s a good idea, my solution is to mute group chats and check them when I’m free, but it’s not ideal for the reasons you’ve mentioned.

In whatsapp there’s only the option to mute the chat.

In discord there’s granular level of control that allows me to mute everything but direct notifications (@d00ery).

But if you implemented such a feature, how would you limit it?

i.e. one notification for the first message and then mute all replies for 5 mins? What happens when that one person who always replies an hour later messages?

Could we use AI to check if the conversation is still related to the original message?

From a dev perspective there’s all sorts of solutions but I wonder how would one find the sweet spot.

I totally agree with you, I’d much rather read some bullet points then sit through a video.

I think YouTube automatically generates transcripts already, and GPT can summarise text easily.

HDMI cable straight to the living room Smart TV (which is not connected to the internet).

Other devices access media (TV shows, movies, books, comics, audiobooks) using VLC DLNA. Except for e-readers which just use the Calibre web UI.

Main router is flashed with OpenWrt and running DNS adblocker. Ethernet running to 2nd router upstairs and to main PC. Small WiFi repeater with ethernet in the basement. It’s not a huge house, but it does have old thick walls which are terrible for WiFi propogation.

I’m still on an early gen Chromecast and never see any adverts. Very occasionally crashes (once a fortnight).

Perhaps there’s an argument against scientific hubris: if we look through history, and to this day, we can see those who champion rigid adherence to religion above all else as the cause of much suffering. On the other hand the latter half of the 10 Commandments provide a fairly sensible groundwork for law and order in society.

As for love, whilst we may not be able to measure it directly, we can certainly see evidence of it’s power; “I would do anything for love, I’d run right in to hell and back” Meatloaf. I’d also argue that the core human emotions can be explained by evolution, and compared with animal behaviour. In preparing for fight or flight fear can be measured in a raised heart rate, the release of chemicals, and electrical activity within the brain.

I think one of the cornerstones of science is that it is open to a theory being overturned as new evidence comes to light.

Duhem–Quine, or the "veil of perception”, well yes, we do have to make some assumptions somewhere, you assume that I know how to read and understand your words written in English, which I do and I’m sure a great many others do - perhaps we could use this as a baseline example of knowledge. We all know the word “stop” and it’s meaning in context though we might not all react to it in the same way.

Then again, it could all just be my imagination.

Because that’s pretty much what science has been about for all of human evolution. We’ve observed events, and then tried to work out why they happen, and yet in all that time we’ve been unable to prove, or disprove god.

We can think practically about knowledge too.

I have a hypothesis, I collect evidence, record the results and see if it supports the hypotheses.

I was expecting you to say you’d somehow exported the BG3 models and 3D printed them, that’s how close they looked to the original characters.
