While this sounds good, it is just a proposed law. It must be enacted and then it must be enforced.. EU has laws yet all the social media companies have done very little about the trash on their sites. Twitter is promoting mis- and disinformation to all its users. YT said it would stop removing false election fraud videos. We’ll see if this goes anywhere.

Meta has the users, over 1 Billion. Shouldn’t we be trying to get those users to transition to open source? They can scrape everyone’s data now and even if instances defederate.
When the Thomas bribery story came out, Elie Mystal said something like, “You’re telling us that this justice can handle the most complex legal cases but doesn’t understand ethics laws?” Same applies here. They didn’t think they would get caught.
Judges have way more power than lawyers. The more sane, liberal judges we have is very good for our democracy.
