  • There is a process to amend birth certificates, presumably initially intended for errors like this. But then people who successfully transitioned used the process to amend their birth certificates to reflect their new gender, because there was no other way to do it. The transphobes seized on this, and started processes that refuse to honor any late changes to birth certificates.

It should have been a simple matter to resolve - his doctor wites a note saying “This kid has boy parts, and always has. The birth certificate was always an administrative error”. But then, that would force the transphobes to acknowledge a role for facts and science to contradict their feelings. So, we can’t have that either.

So, they go on claiming that they are just out for the best interests of kids, and that justifies why they are treating this kid so poorly. When in reality, they are just protecting their narrative, at his expense.

  • It’s not like overland would be a cheaper transport option than Pacific shipping routes or anything.

I wouldn’t be so sure. Shipping routes may be cheaper, but I bet they would still be longer. I think it takes the better part of a month to get goods from China to the US. I bet this takes more like a week.

this article article estimates the distance at 8000 miles to the “lower 48”, presumably to Seattle. It proposes high-speed rail service to do the trip in 2 days, but I don’t think that will compete at all with air passenger service . Rather, I think freight traffic will be the real winner, and 7 days is doable at 50 mph the whole way.

  • The picture is a bit blurry regarding the specs of the controller, but it looks like it has an Output spec of 12A. So as long as you keep your overall load below that, it should be OK.

12 A x 24 V is 288 W. I don’t know what your project is but a quick Google search indicates that these strips consume far less than that unless you are going hundreds of feet.

  • “Peak X” is a phrase that is often used to convey the highest point in a long term trend. And if we are past that peak, that implies that the trend will continue to be lower and lower for the foreseeable future.

Consider the nation’s supply of 18 year olds that would normally enter college. We can’t just create more 18 year olds on demand, couples would had to have gotten busy 19-ish years ago to produce today’s supply of 18 year olds. With birth rates declining, not only are there fewer 18 year olds now than before, but those 18 year olds will be able to make fewer humans for the future when they all get busy with each other later.
