There’s also an option to transfer your chats to another device without backing up to Google drive, but it obviously works only as a transfer tool not as a backup.

And the best part is that settings backed up from sync for reddit, can be simply restored into sync for lemmy. Thank you ever so much dear developer!!!
Yup, and most regular users end up using phones for stuff which even a 4 or 5 year old phone would suffice. Except for the battery which keeps on degrading over the years.
I’m just a little cautious, because easily replaceable batteries will further dent phone sales in general, there could potentially be a marked increase in phone prices once this regulation comes into effect.
UIs have started to hide the actual details
This is what it’s really about. There’s no need to understand the nuts and bolts because now the software obfuscates all of that.
Hi. I’ve heard quite a few people do this but never managed to ask why. So, taking the opportunity to ask.
What I mean is, if the large part of the phone is about the software experience and software optimisation (and the hardware in itself is nowhere near cutting edge) what’s the upside of installing a non-google OS on it?
Perhaps I’ll try it someday. For today, just curious. If you could shed some light on it. Thank you!
I thought Nova was going the way of dinosaurs (i.e. there’s only one developer left to support it).
Edit to add: Unlikely that Google will do anything about it. What will users do - switch to iOS? Also, is it completely in Google’s hands, since stock launchers on third party devices such as OnePlus, Samsung, et al continue to work quite well.
