I think it’s because writers take care to make the pronunciation guessable form the spelling. English is infamous for it’s very inconsistent writing rules, however there are “rules”. More like heuristics, but usually it’s possible to write a word in such a way that others can guess the pronunciation, unless that specific word already has an accepted official spelling that is different.
Wow you’re lucky. I’ve always wanted a job like that.
And for a while I had something similar but unfortunately rotten. We had a ping pong table, afterwork parties, no overtime, lunch, even a swimming pool. And we could use all of it.
However we were seriously underpaid, I got an 80% raise just by saying hello in another company. No remote work without any reason at all (most of my team was in other countries). And awful decision making by upper management.
Made me cynical if something like it is even possible. Glad to hear it is.
Oh I feel this so much. There’s a range of jobs and environments where I do really really well. But the way most organizations are structured I can never find a place where my strengths are desirable in the long term.
And selling myself is not one of my strengths.
I’m also kinda wary of saving cards in the browser. So I created a virtual card with a spending limit for that purpose.
Although there’s more to fear from malware stealing saved passwords. Fraudulent transactions can be reversed, identity theft will do a lot more damage.
It has 2 general meanings:
That is exactly their goal. They openly state it, and I respect them for that.
Federating with others was never really what they wanted. It’s a semi-private discussion space with strict rules.
They could have renewed it just for the irony. Even if it means giving some money to the Taliban.
Of course.
All of us will stop existing at some point. You and me in a couple of decades. Our species and all life on Earth when the Sun goes red giant. Even the universe will die one day dissipating into the maximum entropy of the heat death, or another big bang (not sure about the latest theories)
Yep, a large portion of the content is exactly that. Mastodon is successfully replicating the Twitter experience.
I’m not a huge fan of the format either.
What men did you talk to, because in my experience most don’t shut up about how they are strong and independent
As long as the bank has a good API, there’s nothing stopping anyone except money.
There is a cost to making a good app. And banks have no incentive to open source their current apps - if it’s any good it’s a competitive advantage.
For example - I’m currently using a bank because their app is awesomely good (compared to other banks). Why would they open source it - it means customers might go to other banks who do better on interest rates, or fees.
Switzerland, Finland and Canada have a high per capita gun ownership and they are not shooting each other all the time.
Vućić (the president) is presenting himself as the only possible savior of the nation. It’s an emotional play, actual steps taken are less relevant than being in the news as taking some kind of action. His voters fall for it and he knows it. He’s not going to swing anyone new to his side, but motivate existing supporters to go out and vote.
And then be arrested in said country because it’s not corrupt enough.
Don’t get an Nvidia gpu
Probably need to list all possible strings of options that nobody understands.

Just like any discourse on politics ever. It’s less common to hear people praising a decision than criticising.
On a tangent, that’s why it’s important to loudly say when you agree with something, rather than quietly assume it’s just normal. Regardless of which party it comes from. Politicians are very sensitive to public perception.
It’s not something that you can really experience directly as the end user. It’s a base on which other features can be built. Most obvious would be fractional scaling.
