Does she like to tinker and engineer for hours? Then an ender like printer is golden and cheap. Does she just like to print by pressing 3 buttons and not work with the printer but the prints then there are out of the box printers for that as well. Really depends. Does she want insane speed? Corexy also exists. Theres a printer for every use.

Cheapest option would be a giant cardboard box you have lying around. Followed by a grow tent. Both go up passively to around 45C which is fine for ABS. They are working well for the occasional abs print. If you want something more professional you can diy an enclosure, prusa has the step files for a version build of ikea lack tables on printables. Many similar lack versions online You could replace the acrylic side panels for anything you have in your garage to save costs. In the end you can modify any box to be your enclosure. Last but not least there are full acrylic enclosures out there, even in custom sizes. Those look great but will come at a price. Dont forget that any pla printed upgrades for your ender will soften and loose proper function. Also electronics should be moved outside to lengthen their lifetime.

  • So honestly, they are all pretty similar. If its your first printer there should be other things to consider like are you oke with 23x23cm build plate or do you need 30x30 with slower overall speed? Do you actually want a bedslinger? Do you want dual extrusion? But Klipper or Marlin? Who cares, you can change anytime. Depending on board and driver both have working linear/pressure advance, you will find advocates for both. Also dont underestimate how established the models community is. Especially the ender family has a giant community when it comes to fw help or upgrading and redesigning your printer. Finding fitting parts on thingi becomes a breeze. This can be quite frustrating for printers with lower market share. Im not gonna give any direct recommendation here just saying that the firmware should not be a buying criteria. Good luck on your journey!
