Yes, it is possible. I think it will be something like this:
where proprietary software will eventually be replaced by FOSS software. it just takes a while (Linux was released in 1991).
also, for social media, it’s not so much about the software used, more about who controls it, and hosting plays a significant part in this. the question is, how do we put up an organization large enough to actually sustain that many users?
who pays for image/short video upload for a billion people? small instances on the fediverse already cost real money. feddit.org has 1000 users and reportedly already costs $1000/month to host, IIRC (which seems expensive, even to me, anyways), and catbox.moe, which is a donation-funded service also costs around $1000 (says so on their website). that number would obviously increase sharply if there were more users. So: who pays for it?
I guess crime exists due to two reasons:
So, pacifying the country needs a two-sided approach. On the one side, you must show people how to live a good life without being reliant on crime for basic necessities. People must be able to support themselves without falling back on criminal organizations.
On the other hand, probably the bigger issue, is that these crime organizations have a lot of money, and demand for labour-force. that means that they actively recruit new people, and draw people in. organized crime mostly exists because there’s too much money being made on the black market by selling/trafficking drugs. So I guess that it would make sense to legalize drugs (at least to a certain extent), because every $1 spent legally when buying drugs is a $1 you take away from the black market, and therefore crime organizations.
Yeah but the babies were small, which is what matters here.
The thing with eggs is that they would probably have to be huge. I guess that the egg would maybe have to be 10x the size of the finished baby (Idk for sure though) due to inefficiencies in the food metabolism. While for chickens, that’s not a problem because the babies are small, for humans it would be difficult.
IMO Debian is already pretty far middle-ground. The packages are new enough for my personal usage.
Can anyone enlighten me: What is the advantage of IRC over say Matrix, Email, etc…
The sun is the biggest source of Energy on Earth. There’s no point trying to find an alternative energy source, because even if it existed, it would probably be much more expensive than getting energy directly from the sun.
and since all energy comes from the sun anyways, accessing it in the most direct way possible is obviously both most efficient and also least complicated. and that is why we have photoelectric machines, aka. PV panels.
Yes, some people have no concept of truth. They say whatever is useful to themselves. More news at 11.
It’s only a matter of time until Google Maps will enshittify, too.
welcome to philosophy :)
According to Robert Feldman, chief economist at Morgan Stanley MUFG Securities, the data fuels concerns about demographic shifts and a labor crunch in the country.
How the fuck is it his problem though? Is he personally interested in the well-being of Japanese people? No. Does he only care about maximizing his own profits? Yes.
Do you see other people realistically, or like in Euclidean Space?
Well yeah in the simple case.
And then there’s stochastics.
yep, that’s actually what I beliefe. People in earlier times weren’t stupid, they have the same genes and brains as us. If we could figure out religion is fake, so could they. But they didn’t because back then, magic wasn’t fake. It was real.
I know from first-hand experience that I have often heard some information from somewhere, but for the heck of me I can’t remember where. So I can often not find sources for something I was sure was true. This happens a lot to me.
Thank you, finally somebody asks.
Also, other important question: What are the differential equations that describe how the Gravity Field propagates through space? In other words, at what speed does gravity propagate?
I find the idea of not expecting too much of oneself can be extremely liberating. Just let go of the stress, relax and enjoy life.
“save the traditional nuclear family” my ass
if i had the chance to flee home as a teenager and live somewhere else, i absolutely would have done. even if it meant living among strangers.
