Maybe so, but at least you guys aren’t Russia or Cuba.

Maybe so, but at least you guys aren’t Russia or Cuba.
The thing we as a planet need to recognize is that Russia is waging a propaganda war against everyone, and it’s currently winning.
But the freakiness is still 100% present in their platforms and ideologies. They’re just dressing nicer now.
…with voters endorsing a plan to break up the country in just a few years…
What the actual fuck! These extremists just… don’t want to be a country anymore? Putin must fucking love them.
Exactly. And they won’t fix immigration, they’ll just enrich themselves as much as they possibly can.
It’s truly bizarre. Every couple of decades or so, either the United States or significant chunks of Europe decide, “What the hell, let’s give the right-wingers another chance, they say they’ll fix immigration,” and then we end up cutting funding for services and giving tax cuts to the rich. They pull this shit every goddamn time, and we keep falling for the bait-and-switch.
Hey, uhh, Europe? Can we talk?
Look, I know the way the left has been handling immigration has you upset, but could you please take a closer look at the absolute freaks you’re electing today?
I mean, just take a good look at the United States, circa 2017 through 2020. Did we look like electing an absolute freak worked out for us? Did it fix our own immigration problems? Did it make electing your own Donald Trumps look like a good idea?
It’s always the people you most suspect.
That’s where my optimism lies, too. The kids, by and large, are all right, and it’s high time we let them have their turn running things.
I just hope that we have democracy at all after November.
Perhaps it would make more sense to describe it as an intentionally mistaken understanding.
We’ve been a fragile, fractured country since that day. Al Qaida - and Saudi Arabia - did us lasting, potentially terminal, damage.
In 2001 before 9/11, George W. Bush was clearly going to be a one-term failure of a president, a mistake of the electoral college brought about by complacency, never to be repeated. He would get the boot, be replaced by a better and more competent president in 2005, and that would be that. No Patriot Act. No Department of Homeland Security. No TSA security theater. No war against Iraq, no formation of ISIS, and likely no Tea Party, let alone the travesty that was four years of Donald Trump.
Saudi Arabia may have actually dealt the killing blow to this country, causing the ongoing, slow-motion disaster in politics we see today.
Arch Linux user here to say… Ubuntu’s fine, man. Love all the derivatives that can take advantage of the core Ubuntu system (e.g., Mint, which I’ve installed for family members).
I love Arch. I use it all the time. I will not inflict it on any family members.
It’s certainly to be hoped, but given the Israeli mobilization in the last 24 hours or so, I’m not holding my breath.
Yes, but Ukraine is currently at war with Russia and on hyper-alert for Russians trying to assassinate their president. They’ve stopped numerous assassination plots against him.
Why would he? He’s not in Russia (no matter how much Putin plays pretend on that).
No, I mean the events themselves will be “saying” that, not that people should get out there and instigate panic. Sorry if that didn’t come through.
Oh, it won’t be meaningless. The meaning will be remarkably clear: “Hey, everyone, we’re having hundred-year worsts every week now, and you should all be shitting your pants over it instead of what you’re actually doing, which is sticking your fingers in your ears and going, ‘la-la-la, I can’t hear you.’”
If you count light outside of the human visible spectrum, it’s bright pretty much everywhere. Like, getting away from light requires specially constructed facilities.
Fellow cishet. I, for one, welcome our fabulous overlords.
Yep. I still worry about that fucking asshole’s pro-virus fan club, though. You just know they’ll go out of their way just to contract H5N1 and “prove” it’s just a cold. And they’ll die in droves again, taking Innocent people with them.
Good. Make Russian civilians see the horrors of the war they support personally.
