Oh, I took your original question more generically. You can use last.fm to provide you with recommendations in general according to what you listen to (after scrobbling your library for a while), but acquiring the recommendations (and/or integrating into your active playlist) is a whole other thing. I’m sure it’s possible but I don’t know of out of the box way. Might be a plugin or something out there for it somewhere. That’s why the convenience of streaming can be pretty nice.
Last.fm, but pay the artists somehow, concerts, merch or imo one of the streaming platforms.

Yep. Imo now with Plex you are paying for a much simpler and accessible setup. Seems fair enough to me. Lemmy FOSS or die users (every else in this thread seemingly) are not the target audience of Plex but they sure love to complain about it.

It’s like email, I have yahoo, you have gmail, your grandma has aol. Each is their “home” instance but they can all talk to each other. They’re not in a walled garden and can only talk to themselves like whatsapp or reddit or twitter etc. Fediverse is an open platform and lemmy is a reddit-like part of it. Mastodon is a twitter-like part of it. Sync does do a great job, no need to make head go ouchie.

I’ve still been using Plex, bought a lifetime license a long time ago and it’s mostly been set-and-forget for years (except when they broke plex on the shield for like 3 months, ugh). What are the top things that makes you want to use Jellyfin over Plex?
Ah-ha, thanks, patched the apk but I dunno if I can sink low enough to use reddit any time soon. Really hoping that some of the ousted 3rd party devs come over here. Sync for reddit is one of the best apps I’ve ever used.
