By memory this means we’ve only got Rise of and Shadow of - alongside the IV-VI Remastered still to come via Amazon, they’ve given the rest out themselves (though Epic has given others)
That girl who plays Steam Deck and writes about gaming + Linux a lot

If I had more time, I could 100% arrange a crazy once-off downloadable and installable demo disk of non-copyrighted games.
As it stands, the more I write of this reply the more work I know it’d be! (still fun though)
I guess I do, but I don’t really know so much about the older magazines. I’m young, so I wasn’t around for the magazine era of gaming (much to my own sadness, my Papa tells me all the time how fun it was getting each month’s issue and the included ‘demo disk’). I’ve just spent a ton of time looking at scans of them, finding old archived gaming blogs…idk I just wish the current era of gaming journalism was more fun and less ‘begging’ or trying-to-trap-you-into-ads.
And not anywhere really! My friends Eben and Annie, who run Junk Store for Steam Deck take what I write and edit it so it fits for their sub-reddit. Or did, because now with the next iteration of Junk Store so close, their workload is getting more and more.
Other than that, last year I had a few of my interviews on SteamDeckHQ (because the owner of the site was a friend), and the same for Gaming on Linux for a couple.
These news posts though?! Nope, as they are they’re just here. Thank you for taking the time to enjoy these, I really appreciate it. Without people who love these I’m sure I’d have stumbled to a halt!
Make sure you wishlist it!
And don’t forget to check your Matrix chat mister!!!
Since the game is slow and mostly text based, I think its gameplay has aged quite well.
This made me smile! I’ll look this game up, it sounds interesting :)
Thanks for the interest!
In 2023 / 2024 I was in contact with what I suppose you’d call the ‘big three’ of modern piracy - FitGirl, Dodi and Empress.
Empress was clearly in it just for the money. She was exactly as you’d expect her to be from her interview and general ranting back then.
Dodi said he did so because he grew up very poor in Egypt, he stated that pirating games was the only way he and his friends could hope to enjoy gaming and culture. That the companies lost no money or sales because there was simply no way they’d be able to afford the games. Though, to be fair, he has afforded to put himself through medical school since he started…so I’d say he also enjoys the proceeds.
Fit was the most calculated, and I think knowledgeable of the three. I think she is a pirate at heart and does it for an ideal, though she too (the most of the three) has enjoyed a lot of money for her efforts.
I’m super interested to see how this Switch pirate interview goes, since like I mentioned - its not been done before!
…worryingly, I had more to add but when I saw I was over 5,000 words I thought maaaaybe time to stop and hold the other bits back!
Oh, and thanks as ever for GameSieve! I love it, and really do check in constantly there :)
I’m so glad you’ve started Death Stranding!
Keep in mind it can be a marathon - it can be a gigantic long game if you fill the gaps, doing the ‘side delivery missions’ etc. Just…take your time, enjoy the scenery! The second area is amazing. I hope you keep enjoying it!!!
(and thank you so much, comments like yours are - can’t pretend otherwise - a big part of why I keep these coming!)
Thanks! It’s more…probably the mental toll than anything, coming to terms with this nonsense happening to me!
It’s just…alternating - most of the time it is quite numb to touch, like my nerve endings there register nothing at all. Then (typically night time) it feels like burning, a little like a hot knife? So I felt pretty sad, tbh. Still something to come to terms with. Hopefully with some care and effort it can be maybe mitigated, I doubt totally reversed…but again I won’t know for around 6 months! Shitty!
Oh gosh, that is exactly what I hope to try and do! Thank you!!!
Thank you for sticking with these, and reading them as I post them. I appreciate it a lot :)
Cross-posted and translated this to the Brazilian community as usual :)
Thank you, as always, for making things easier and more accessible for others! It’s truly so nice of you to do so, even if a handful find some things interesting, that’s a win in my books!
P.S: There’s a formatting error on the previous posts, on the gaming news #18
Thank you! I’ve been looking at that for hours now, feeling lethargic and lazy to fix it…but when I’m called out? Well, I had to! So thanks for that :P
I’m so glad you joined!!!
It can all feel a bit strange to begin with, that’s what I found anyway. There can be a sense of being in a…idk void where you’re not heard for awhile, but give it some time. Join communities here which catch your eye, comment on what interests you, and by all means YES - please do submit anything and everything here!!!
I’m pretty qualified and it would be amazing to get to work there.
form what I heard after posting that, the location was important for some of the jobs, not all. So, I’d say you’re going to only know if you’re the right fit, and meant to work there, if you apply!!! I do know the people there are absolutely lovely and care so much about gaming. Do it!!!
As to what exactly, and how exactly you should share on Lemmy/here in this community…that’s entirely 100% up to you. If anyone tries to tell you the ‘right’ way to do something, they’re clearly lost. We on FOSS spaces like here and Mastodon really, really need more contributions. I know that 99% of this kind of space has the life of the posts in the comments, that’s the nature of a forum-based world like Lemmy is, but I like to try things a little differently here.
Whatever you do, and however you do it, I’m excited to see it!
And again, welcome to Lemmy. You’re in the right place :) :) :) :) :) :)
Thanks, Bob!!!
Its a long annoying road ahead for the nerves, which is something I’m failing hard at ignoring! So, time and effort to try mitigate that sad news.
It did make me super happy to type this up and share it, so I’m glad its something you enjoyed reading through.
Appreciate your comments as always :)
Its kinda like a ‘test’ (the image itself, I mean!)
Typically I use a picture of a girl by an arcade machine, but after some few comments off and on expressing their dislike for it, I thought I might try something else!
Unsure which I’ll ultimately stick to :)
Oh gosh, thats like the sweetest thing ever!
Thank you so much for saying that. I’m lucky that people like you enjoy them, otherwise I’d have lost steam long ago!!!
Staying away from Chome (even for work) I haven’t had the chance to try it out yet, I’m hoping it’s going to be approved to Firefox’s add-ons so I can see how it is!
Thank you for keeping up with reading them!!!
Oh that’s so kind of you to say! I have to say, I’ve been pretty down about it all, but writing this up made me so very happy. I really love Lemmy for how easy it is to share these long-form posts :)
Pippistrello and the cursed yo-yo
Sounds wonderful, I’m looking this up now! It sure sounds weird, but the longer the gaming industry runs and ruins great things, these odd little different ones just make me happy!
Be the change you want to see! You can make an account there and share how games run for you, in fact I just checked and can’t see a single Odin compatibility report submitted by the community yet. You could be the one to change that!!!
If Jack is somehow stumbling over this, he and I both know that he owes me a coffee.
I’ve not been in the Android emulation scene for awhile, it’s nice that its even possible these days!
