So you’re telling me that if snaps take off and become a standard there’s a good chance I’ll have to use them just to get my drivers? Now I hate them even more!

Pendrive for the important stuff, paper for the really important stuff and brain for everything else.
I got my pixel online before it was officially available in my country. If you can’t find anything locally you can message sellers from other countries on ebay or use a proxy store like this guy link who offers worldwide shipping.
Install KDE.
A gui app that lets you:
It should be simple without any advanced options or storing any data or credentials or saving anything without asking the user. For example;

I updated my BIOS few days ago and on reboot got a warning about bitlocker and resetting fTPM, but I’m on linux. I dumped luks headers, and master priv keys before resetting just in case but everything worked as usual. Do you know if I just got lucky or if luks dosn’t use TPM? Should I hold on to the luks headers and master priv key backup?
Print the hexdump of the file or qr code of the hexdump on paper. I store backups of my password manager db like this just in case there is a solar flare or some other magic bullshit that wipes all my pendrives/sd cards/CDs.
That’s just not true. Monero, litecoin, bch… transactions cost less than a penny. No one uses bitcoin for illegal things anymore (it’s tracable and forever on the blockchain, people use monero instead) but if they were wouldn’t that mean bitcoin is useful for exchanging goods?
I use crypto for a bunch of legitimate things like paying for my VPN, phone bill, donating to foss projects etc.
I use it because it’s more private, faster and more convenient for me. I can always have it with me, use it from any place, any time, for anything I want with no hidden fees and no one can seize, freeze, track or control my money. If you think that thoes things are valueable only to criminals you must have lived under some 1st world rock for a while.
I use crypto to privately pay for my VPN, phone bill, to donate to foss projects. I sold some digital items online for crypto. I use it because it’s faster, more private (if done correctly) and convenient than using a credit card or bank transfer. No one can seize, freeze, or control my crypto. I can donate, pay or get paid on my own terms with no middle man. If visa, mastercard, banks or fintech companies generate value then so does crypto.
What’s the difference between a useless cryptographic token and a useless piece of paper if there are people willing to give me things I want for either?
1337x.to, qbittorrent, vpn if your isp cares. Dodi, fitgirl, johncena141 for games. For audio, video, books, just don’t be dumb and open bee_movie.mp4.exe and you’ll be fine.
And people bash brave for being bloated.
Great post, I was looking for a comparison of nostr and AP because it seemed like basically the same thing to me and your post explained it perfectly. After reading it, I have to agree that nostr is a better solution for the fediverse.
Edit: Now that I think about it, I use session for taking notes and “syncing” them with my PC. I guess any messaging app with a desktop client would work.
Thanks. I tried to look it up and all I found was something about a hole in a ship.
WTF is scuppering?
Internet would be better if javascript was never invented.
Running the installer with wine first and then adding the game exe as a non-steam game and running it with proton works for me.
