I imagine it started with some sub-installations actually giving approximations that were acceptable and summed up, but then some finalizing was not taken into account or something needed to be added after the other processes are finished, and the deadline was close. That last part builds up over time with other quick additions and some annoying stuff that is actually quite performance heavy and not easy to incorporate through the whole installation. “Let’s do it at the end as well.”

No time / budget to change the 100% to 99% as they have to adjust calculations based on the processes that actually do a good job. Although a display change could fake it, priorities are elsewhere.

While I agree with your sentiments, for a modern country I see it as a tool to be able to more easily handle international relationships with some countries who still see the importance (like an old handy swiss army knife you have laying around). As long as the monarchy is purely ceremonial and does not affect your own country’s politics.

That’s a fair point. And I believe AI should be able to combine legal material to create illegal material. Although this still feels wrong, if it excludes suffering in base material and reduces future (child) suffering, I’d say we should do research on it at least. Even if it’s controversial, we need to look at the rationale behind it.

Of course we don’t want both, but it comes across as if you’re dismissing a possible direction to a solution to the one that is definitely worse (real life suffering) by a purely emotional knee jerk.

Mental health support is available and real CSAM is still being generated. I’d suggest we look into both options; advancing ways therapists can help and perhaps at least have an open discussion about these sensitive solutions that might feel counter-intuitive at first.

I agree, we should aim for regular schools if possible, but should watch out in taking our ideology too strictly and clouding our view on reality. If it’s not manageable, a special school might be best for all parties.

To keep you logged in is often done with a session cookie, for example. There are different ways, but mostly some kind of data piece needs to be set on the browser side.

I believe from Instance A, you can only subscribe to a community on instance B if both A and B allow it. Otherwise you need to create a different account in instance B.

This way an instance can have some kind of governance over its users and the content they see.

I wonder if an SSO solution exists and is supported by many instances, so as a user you won’t notice much of the different accounts you could have.
