I’m here just to see where I should go after Win 10 and am not sure I’m much closer to finding the answer. I’m at least a bit familiar with Linux on the steam deck and Ubuntu I installed on an old laptop years ago so can’t imagine how extra confusing this is to someone with zero prior exposure.

Doesn’t have to the superior, but one of personal preference. You like the current cultural values and know other cultures don’t necessarily share them and so fear a cultural shift.
In this case though I think you’re right that there’s a strong superiority aspect.
Sure, the movies aren’t very deep, but the world-building and visuals are pretty great. The emotional beats tend to hit as they should too so it’s entertaining fluff. Sure, I enjoy a fancy steak, but I’m also going to fully enjoy cotton candy at the carnival too.
I’m guessing by “history” they mean since we started measuring this accurately? Iirc the earth used to spin faster so going back a few centuries or millennia should give days measurably shorter than what we have now.
