It’s okay, not your fault, you lost your mind.
It’s okay, not your fault, you lost your mind.
It’s always the same disingenuous bullshit. I’d wager most people on here couldn’t care less about Hamas. All Hamas members could drop dead right now and I wouldn’t lose a second of sleep.
But somehow we’re all Hamas supporters because we don’t put a “I hate Hamas”-disclaimer above every comment about Israel. It’s so terribly low-effort and transparent.
Ah well, that’s a good point. It’s not like politicians never lie about their motivations either.
I thought it was because of religious nutjobs trying to force everyone else to live by their rules. I doubt that Kate and Joe down the block have some kind of pro-corporation-meatgrinder reason to be anti-choice.
I think what many people (and thus governments) don’t want to accept is that maybe people just don’t want kids. It always happens, when people are more educated and have better quality of life – and access to contraception, they have fewer children. If money was really the defining factor, then why aren’t all rich people having 10 kids? Why is the birth rate in countries like Finland (where they have a lot of social programs, high quality of life and support for parents) so low?
I am absolutely not denying that having no money factors into the decision to not have kids, for people who actually do want them. But we need to face it, a lot of people -when given the choice- just don’t want kids. You can’t pay me enough to have kids. I could be a billionaire and I wouldn’t want kids. The only way you could make me have kids is by forcing me. And while typing this, suddenly I have the urge to erase it all, because I fear the day when governments finally realize what I typed above and they actually start forcing people to have kids.
Edit: I think what should happen is for us all to figure out how our society should work when global birth rate inevitably drops below replacement rate, and what we want from life other than infinite growth.
Probably nothing. Even if you were rich enough to send a few trucks with food/medicine, it wouldn’t gain entry. And all world governments are sitting around watching it, so not sure what ordinary citizens could do that would help these people in time (yes people can vote, but it won’t be in time for a lot of these people, especially not if Israel gets to keep doing whatever in the meantime).
It’s looking bleak here, indeed. My Heimat is jerking off Wilders and here in Germany it’s the AfD, though luckily in BW they aren’t as popular as in other parts of Germany…
Still, not really sure what to do about it. I vote, but it doesn’t seem to matter. Don’t know how to explain to people why they should care about others. It’s a good thing I have enough books and games and series to offer escapism, because otherwise I’d probably need to get some prescription medication.
Agreed 1000%. That game is phenomenal. It has made me laugh so hard I ended up crying, well and sometimes I was just crying. An emotional roller coaster, superb writing.
My husband was playing it and I thought the game looked terrible, but he kept saying I really should play it, and I can’t put into words how fucking happy I am that I chose to try it. Can’t believe I almost missed out on it. Truly a masterpiece.
It’s… without a doubt one of the best games I’ve ever played. Just hope you won’t buy it, publishers don’t deserve it.
If only for the soundtrack, it’s worth playing once, at least. It’s so haunting and beautiful. The first time I played DOS1, I knew I would love it the moment I heard the music at startup. RIP Kirill, his music was so beautiful. Also nice they put his music on the piano in a certain evil dude’s house in DOS2!
Maybe I should replay it again. Just like OP I’m having a bit of a BG3 withdrawal issue.
Fuck man, I’ve been reading this exchange and you sound a bit unhinged. Some random Jewish person living half a world away has no influence whatsoever on the actions of Israel. Do note that the person you’re arguing with has already spoken out against Israel’s actions in this very thread! But there’s nothing more they can do about it. They’re just a rando online, nobody in any position in power is going to give a fuck about what they say. Or what you say. Or what I say, for that matter. Putting all this shit on their shoulders (or anyone else not in Israel - or in a position of power elsewhere) is deranged.
The only people who can change anything about it are Israelis themselves, their government or foreign governments (maybe large corporations? But why would they as long as they make money, right?) by putting pressure on Israel. Nobody else. Certainly not some poor schmuck you decided to berate on Lemmy. Get over yourself.
Rimworld.
Over the years, on and off, I’ve put 2k hours into that game, and I’ve never, ever built the ship or helped the High Stellarch or found the Archo Nexus. Never even gotten close. I love building bases and growing colonies, and with all the DLC+mods there’s an endless amount to do, but yeah… doubt I’ll ever actually get to the end.
I went back to playing Slay the Spire for a bit, since it’s almost N7 Day, but I might just replay Disco Elysium in stead. After ME, maybe it’s time to try Starfield? Have seen too many negative reviews to really want to pay full price for it, but we’ll see.
Oh the graphics don’t bother me at all, the Legndary edition holds up fine, I think. But ME1 has the best story in the trilogy, it’s why I still play it. I still remember the first time I played it. Being made a Spectre, speaking to Sovereign, the attack on the Citadel. How scary and unknowable the Reapers were. Hanging up on the Council. ;) The main storyline is better than 2 and 3 combined, imo. However, you are right that ME1 has some issues. While the Legendary Edition fixed a lot of the issues (and it does play smoothly, I do think), there are some things in ME1 that have become so tedious I don’t even do them anymore. Mainly talking about the exploration of unchartered worlds and the terrible handling of the Mako, or how every outpost looks the same, every mine looks the same, with the exact same layout. Makes it feel way more dated than it feels if you only go through the story. Not to mention the headache that is inventory management and swapping weapons and mods and grenades, turning everything into omni-gel because the stupid mini-game is even more annoying than inventory management!
For this reason I made a few save games that I 100%ed (one paragon, one renegade, different romances, etc). And I backed those up. Now, whenever I play ME1 I only do the main storyline and some side quests, and ignore the rest, lol. Then in ME2 I import one of the files I saved. Cut out all the tedium. ;)
Mass Effect trilogy.
Or maybe Bioshock.
Either/both.
Very late edit: Deus Ex. I still play it every once in a while and while the graphics are terrible, it’s a lot better with GMDX and you get used to it very quickly. That game is still a masterpiece.
Oh definitely, it was really such a depressing eye-opener, to see so many people around just not give a fuck about anyone else.
I can’t remember ever experiencing something like this…? Is it possible to forget about it, like a dream? Barely ever remember dreams. Or maybe some people don’t experience these hallcinations?
No, I don’t use facebook, but I’m pretty sure I’m not the first or only person to say something like that. It’s not that deep, lol.
I mean, theorethically it should be possible. The problem is that government consists of people and it seems to me that people who actually want power are the people who should never have it.
Maybe Valheim?
