Terrible situation. I had a temp come work for me that had fled from Ukraine. I judged the situation at first, but I considered what I would do in his situation. I’d like to think I’d stay and fight, but we only get one life. My guy was just trying to to survive.
Try smaller businesses maybe? Corporate isn’t for everyone.
I got hired for two simple tasks and quickly realized the company (being small) was lacking in a lot of areas I specialize in or am passionate about. I started doing all these extra things and I got a lot of recognition and $$$ in return. I also don’t hate my job, it’s a small team and we all get along great.
It’s always a shit show. I drove to S Illinois in 2017. 6 hour drive in, 17 hour drive home I hated it. But worth it.

I’m sincerely appreciative of everything they do for consumers as a whole. Not everything makes it across the pond but at the very least it sets precedent and a lot of the groundwork is done if our politicians ever decide to get their shit together and give us a ground to stand on against corporations and lobbyists.

I’m 37 and can barely read cursive, I hate it. I learned it in primary school, never used it, and here I am.
I play DnD and one of our campaigns got so confusing so our DM made a huuuuge flow chart explaining the story, consequences of our actions, where we can go next, etc. It’s all in fucking cursive and I couldn’t read any of it so I continue to be confused :)
I love that realization when I throw some hacky shit together and it somehow works first try.
When I try to be organized and meticulous nothing works and I eventually give up.

Fr stop producing c-tier content for millions of dollars and just pay for better content and/or make it cheaper. I don’t need 14 generic action movies starring Ryan Reynolds and dozens of forgettable shows.
Yeah unprofessional/bad practice, I would flip off the notifs and just decline behind the scenes.
Yeah loss of human life and serious injuries are heartbreaking, but to me it’s equally as saddening to see animals get caught up in human bullshit. Donkey was just doing his job pulling a cart. Animals are so defenseless.

When there’s multiple people involved with hiring this happens all the time. When you get 100/1000s of applications many get stuck in some in-between status like contacting/shortlist when they should be denied. If you’re used to ERP/CRM where there’s no way to abandon a ticket unless you mark it resolved, LinkedIn and indeed feel pretty loose by comparison and it’s easy to miss things like that.
Fucking brutal way to go, rest in peace.
