I go out of my way to buy stuff in mason jars. They’re so handy and of course chemically inert. No microplastic worries. Also great for fermenting my own stuff!
well for $25/drink i would be happy to make a couple of bloody marys
No one is charging $25 for a bloody Mary. OOP is a drama queen
Or maybe they’re just exaggerating for comedic effect. Stranger things have been known to happen.
Might work if it were funny. Someone else just responded to me saying prices are even higher than this absurdist claim in the post. People are doing this with a straight face so who knows.
in a fancy enough place in city center with enough toppings to be a dish on its own i would pay 25+ for a bloody mary
That’s not a bloody Mary. That’s an abomination.
guess im a monster then
No arguments there ;)
Someone hasn’t been to the big city in a decade, hyuck.
Except I live in one every day. Last I checked our cost of living was in the top 5.
For a pitcher and a whole chicken
That’s just a normal bloody mary to me
The existence of a place charging a lot for shit? Impossible!!! I checked a spot I frequent to be sure and their bloody Marys are $8. It’s a metro area, not a suburb either.
it’s hyperbole.
Judging by the comments I’ve gotten here, a lot of people are mad that you’d even question that $25 cocktails are real and common.
Avocado toast! And how would you like your eggs on top?
The guy looks at you as if why do you even need to ask?
Poached, of course! Transmitted by a duh stare, telepathic.EDIT: The plate is served, and the hipster stares at you again,
through thin-rim glasses and delicately groomed mustache.
You forgot the asparagus spears!I’m curious about the cute mason jar. I’ve got plenty in various sizes, including roughly the volume of the pictured jar, but they’re all taller than wide. Not sure what I’d even put in it, though (besides tater tots).
i got a fair amount of weed in jars that size
Dipping sauces?
Fentanyl?
Quarter pints are wider than tall, but tiny, wide-mouth half pints are similar proportions but bigger
Was this made in 2015?
Yeah, like hipsters has the aged feeling of the word yuppy now.
I feel like a gaggle it’s a good collective noun for hipsters, yet not the perfect one. I think we can do better, Lemmy.
A flannel? An organic?
A trend
A detachment
Nice one!
A range of products.
I hate it when that happens.
I have a bunch of Mason jars for canning and I use them for storing herbs as well.
- Mason jars are containers
This trend of just adding 50-100% to the price of what actually expensive things cost (so you can bitch about it or chide people for paying it) is annoying.
Bro these stupid burger places charge $27 for a shitty burger!
No they don’t. They charge $15 for one, and it’s probably a great burger. Just go to McDonald’s and find something to whine about there too.
Why do I say this? I live in an expensive place and I don’t think I’ve ever even seen a bloody Mary cost more than $14, and to be clear that’s ridiculously expensive. $10-12 would be normal.
Bars charging $20-30 for a single cocktail and $10-15 for a bottle of Bud Light is one of the reasons I don’t go to bars and McDonald’s charges $15 out here just for a quarter pounder, which is about the same as a regular sit-down restaurant burger that also has better quality.
Except there’s very little truth to this. My city is toward the top of list of most expensive places to live and I don’t pay more than maybe $16 for a cocktail. More likely $12.
You’re doing the exact thing I’m criticizing.
“It runs on my machine, so the bug clearly doesn’t exist.”
I was recently in Paris too. Apparently it works on their machine as well.
Paris is not nearly one of the most expensive cities. For a huge cultural capital it’s really quite affordable. Try Zurich or San Francisco or Singapore.
Zurich, jesus. May as well just hand someone a 100 euro note when you walk out of your door and be done with it, even if you don’t plan on spending anything.
I mean I’ve been to Zurich and Iceland pretty recently and they were hella expensive but still likely less than $20 for a bloody Mary.
20 dollars is about 16 CHF, that’s an extremely normal price for a cocktail. I live just outside Zurich, I’m not exaggerating for comedic or dramatic effect. In a fancy bar in district 1 or niederdorf it’s more like 25 CHF or 30 USD.
Just a random selection of a few bars in downtown:
